That's for sales purposes so that's probably never going to stop.
Road jerseys are more popular...therefore it makes sense that home teams want to display them at home in front of their fans from time to time.
Especially for teams w/ new unis

Rumor is Nike is close to locking up the deal. Also the Nike Logo might be on the jerseys

I think this thankfully helps delay ads on the game jerseys as Nike for the first time ever is being allowed to put their logo on player uniforms - they are not going to like deflecting that advertising with other companies' ads in the same area and the 1 billion price tag that Nike is reportedly paying to the NBA speaks volumes.
