Kendrick Lamar IS The GREATEST Rapper Of All Time (Vol. Hear Me Out. LOOOONG read)

Pop= popular music

It doesnt have a specific sound

Mj is the king of pop, do pitbull & florida sound like him?

Keep hating tho

How am I hating?

I didn't say he makes bad music I said he isn't apart of the culture.

Just like I don't hate Chris Brown, but I'll be damned if you say he's one of the greatest R%B singers. No, he's a pop artist.

A rapper has to speak about social issues to be aligned with the culture

Is it drakes job to be a politician or make ppl feel good with his music

How did I miss this.

Actually, yes, speaking about social issues and being conscious about what's going on DOES make you more in tune with hip hop culture. It's what it was built on, bruh. If you'd actually read what was written, it's right there, plain as day.

Again, Drake is a great artist, but he stays in his lane. There's no comparison with guns and Kendrick, it's apples and oranges.

I'm sorry but I don't look for my entertainers to speak on social issues and neither should you is it a plus sure but these dudes aren't scholars or activists

Drake is a pop rapper, but I don't understand how that somehow makes him a "bad" rapper or not one of the top rappers currently out

Hes a pop artist because hes one of the most popular r&b singers

Yall put too much emphasis in this pop thing

Once you reach a certain level of success you become pop, not because of the music you make

Taylor swift is a pop artist because shes one of the most popular country singers

Dude...no.

There are artists who've sold a hell of a lot more than both these dudes and they aren't considered pop artists.

Again, there's a reason why Pitbull gets categorized as a best selling pop artist and not a best selling rapper.

name one.

i'll wait.

what i said are facts.

he did headline glastonbury and sell out the garden multiple times in minutes and has most #1 albums all-time for a solo artist

#justdafacts

i haven't come out and said "this album is the most important album in the history of black music!" like y'all
Here are just two examples..
what has kendrick done to elevate the culture ? He coddles dre's balls and appear in some beats commercials

hell even peforming "picasso baby" at that NY gallery did more to elevate the culture

how many of you hyperbolic kendrick stans even bought the album?
You stay with that short bus commentary, keep entertaining us though.

Drake isn't a bad rapper but he's not a lyricist. His content is as limited as it gets. He's only four or five albums in and he's easily run out of **** to say. Everything is the same.

His last album is closer to Future than Kendrick

I don't understand why Drake fans get so mad. Is calling his music pop insulting? Does that make him a soft rapper? The guy sings and cries to men and women on records, I don't see the problem with calling him a pop star.

Like my man said, Pitbull was a gritty rapper. He's not considered a rapper.

I think he does have his fair share of lyricism, it's just ridiculously overshadowed by his limited *** content. It's either:

Whining about or gassing up some stripper

How rich and successful he is

But Drake definitely has rap skills. And just because his last album was very Future-ish doesn't mean it's not a fantastic record

EDIT: And nobody in this thread is mad about anything. Why do dudes always accuse other people of "being mad" when they hold differing views in a music debate?

Nobody said drake is a lyricist but dont say hes not running the game because of the content he chooses to rap about & say kendrick is running the game because of his "message"
You probably would have said Vanilla Ice was running the game back in the day.

Because if I was putting a random person onto current rap music, Drake would be one of the last recommendations. The guy has average bars, melodic hooks and 40 makes incredible beats. Drake is selling but I look at more than sales when it comes to who is running rap.

You trolling? What social issues was NWA speaking on?

Too many kids on NT nowadays, I'm out

Yall love taking it to the extreme

When nwa was running the game they were getting hate for their content, what social issues were they speaking on?
Unlike you; I witnessed N.W.A and the only people who were hating on them were old White people. They were completely embraced by the culture.

Kendrick named Drake in "Control" for a reason.

And hundreds of other B-list rappers made responses because of the sole fact that they were NOT named (except Eminem I guess)

Eminem is one of the top selling rap artists of all time.... Don't see you guys mentioning him.

Why does everything always go back to album sales when that has nothing at all to do with the quality of the product.

It's like in the Drake thread, the only argument anyone can make is that he's more popular and sells more. The ONLY one.

Do you even know the definition of the word "Legend?"

Just because dude has a song called Legend doesn't make him a Legend lol.

Drake is a legend?!?!? ****, come on now. Can't help but laugh. Zero classics, average verses, has stolen everyone's flow, isn't a great singer and has a dope *** producer. How in the mother**** is he a legend?

I like Take Care and half of NWTS. But a legend......
