Several layers of thin paint. We'll see how it holds up. Definitely makes the tongue a little stiffer, but once I put a finisher on it and start getting wear out of it, it will probably loosen up. By no means is it hard, it's just not as soft as the unpainted tongue (as would be expected). I didn't paint the inside though with the breathable mesh so that's why it should still keep some flexibility.  Main part I wanted to cover was the top since the rest will be mostly covered by the laces.

looks clean, just hope it doesn't flake on you.

I'm not pro-customizer, but this seems to be a common method for coloring tongues (seen people use paint on Laser 1 customs). I wouldn't want to handle bleach just in case it spills I don't know what it might do to the other colors or how it might affect the materials, etc.  Also, I'm really just trying to thicken the front of the tongue with some paint so that the light doesn't penetrate it as much. The tongue is already white, so not trying to alter its color, just make it more opaque. If I hold the tongue up to the light from the back, I can still see a yellow tint, but that shouldn't be an issue while I'm wearing them and viewing from the front. 

You can also adjust how white you want the tongue based on the number of coats. It took about 3 coats before I didn't see the yellow tint anymore. I don't mind a little bit of yellow, but I just wasn't feeling how it was originally. Again, I didn't even touch the back so it's still very foamy-soft and yellow in the back. Will apply the finisher tonight and will let you guys know eventually if its a success or failure. I'm sure someone else has had the idea to do this or already did it. Maybe there is a better way.

there might or might not be a better way but bleach removes color which will turn them dingy since cotton and real materials are not 100% white to begin with
 
I have tried heaps of USA and euro websites and keep missing out. I know these are sitting in the USA shops. If someone can please help with a size 9US can you please PM me.
 
I've just managed to check out one pair for retail, really hope 0.5 down will fit.

I think the sole is wide enough, it's just how tight it will feel in the midfoot area. I think it has potential to stretch. Toebox should not be a problem.
