I was fired because....

fired and laid off are completely different
how so?

Both are involuntary separation from the company.

I can see a difference between resignation and termination...

But fired, RIFed, laid off, cut... All the same...

yeah except one is because of you sucking at your work or violating policy, meanwhile the other is because of lack of budget or work.
You can't claim unemployment after being fired
you won't be rehired after being fired

straight up thats a simple minded view you have towards it

Basically, if you're fired it's your fault, if you're laid off, it's not.
Let's see you try to tell the unemployment office they're the same thing

I've been laid up from my current employee multiple times.

I'm pretty sure I couldn't return if I was fired.

Been let go from seasonal gap job. Job sucked anyways and they hit me with it while on a ski trip in Canada. Didn't even care. Didn't really want a job (it was during college anyways) and they kept riding me about getting people to sign up for gap cards with no regard to financial crisis.

I'll be simple minded then

If you're good enough and valuable enough, they'll find a way to keep you, point blank.

Steezy was not in the 30% hence he got fired.

And what about when it is seniority based?
Or you make to much money?
or you were hired as a gift wrapper?

meh

Ignorance :smh:

You have no idea how his contract was constructed.

Call back policy, buy out, seniority clauses, union contract etc.

Being laid off/furlough is nothing like being fired.

I used to work for Chase, doing tech support for their website.

A guy calls in says hes having trouble logging in. I ask him to try to log in. He does his thing, it fails, I tell him to read to the error message.

HIM: "User Id or Password is incorrect.." Before I can even reply, he ask if he needs to contact his internet provider.

ME: "Pfhtrskjhf  Noooo.....I just means your password was wrong.."

Two days later, they fire me for laughing at the customer.

Shoulda never switched to day shift. :smh:

If you're good enough and valuable enough, they'll find something else

They'll ask you to take a pay cut or find more responsibility to justify your pay

See the first choice.

I am literally adjusting labor at my job for a living.

Management wants you to start, they'll find a way for you to stay

Steezy b said 30% stayed.

He's the brain surgeon who thinks he can tell everybody everything about all surgery.

You work for one company who does it their one way.

I know for a FACT it varies from job to job how layoffs work.

You can be the GOAT at your company n still get the boot.

Lolol laid off and terminated aren't the same what da hell

You can tell a prospective employer you were laid off because it was a seasonal position. You can't tell nobody you were fired for stealing wave grease out a shopping cart

I'm not doing it for one company, though.

Not sure why y'all are so set on truing to prove something.

I think laid off , fired, RIF = terminated

Terminated doesn't have to be bad... Just means you ain't working for the company anymore.

Some terminated people cab come back. Some can't.

Still means you're terminated

Point blank.

Sorry guise.

Yup
My grandfather worked IT for Nordstrom for more than 25 years and was laid off because they could hire some kid off the street for a third of the cost
I was laid off by my current employer because the union contract has everything strictly seniority based

lol I had a seasonal job once it's not the same as being fired. i can still go back there and work for a permanent position or do more seasonal work. only thing i didn't like was how they just left ya boy off the schedule no call or nothing so i ain't know what was up.

Still wrong.

I was hired in '07, laid off as soon as my training was complete for about a year.

Was actually hired during their lay off.

Company was going to loose about %40 of their workforce to retirement over the next 10 years.

Returned for a year and was laid off again for another year.

All seniority and future production based.

Had absolutely nothing to do with my skills or behavior.

Fired and terminated are usually disciplinary actions.

Furlough and lay offs are kind of like place holders during low profit/ slow seasons.

We want you, just don't need you know.

The jobs I hold are even seniority based.
