I want to apply for a job.
You MUST have LinkedIn in order to apply.
I don't really want to start it because i feel its going to be like a Facebook.
Can someone put me on game?
ALSO IF ANYBODY ON NT WANTS TO NETWORK. THIS COULD BE THE THREAD.
(Don't know why it wasn't thought of before)

Not sure about linked in but the career building type sites seem to send job postings that have nothing to do with what you initially applied for.

Yeah i got linkedin... did some networking, got offered a few gigs but took other ventures which was way more lucritive. If you have a decent resume and reach out to people they hit u back.

LinkedIn is useful for networking, getting in touch with recruiters, and finding job listings. I don't really see much of a downside to maintaining a profile unless you're lazy.

The job I have now is all because of networking and staying in touch with previous colleagues.

Linkedin with 700+ connections (just a guess)

Get offered jobs at every year around the same time...

Got my current gig of LinkedIn.

I have Linkedin, and it definitely helps with getting a job (employers WILL look you up and do their research on you before interviewing/hiring you)

I remember someone made a NT group on Linkedin a few years ago:

https://www.linkedin.com/grp/home?gid=4579923&sort=POPULAR

It's dead though...anyone want to bring this back to life?

Would love to network and get a job out of state :nerd:

I don't have a LinkedIn. The word on the streets is my LinkedIn. My name is my name.

But in all seriousness, all of my friends and a few colleagues have profiles there and I constantly hear stories about them getting contacted about new jobs at other companies.

I have a Linkedin but haven't gotten any job off of it, but have been contacted because of it.

Its not like facebook OP, people aren't posting spam of nonsense memes and their opinions on LinkedIn

Recruiting people on linkedin >>>>

I'd recommend getting some recommendations from prominent people in your profile. Instant eye catcher.

I started a Linkedin in the beginning of May and already have 80+ connections. Got offered one job but it's so random I think I might pass.

I have one, but I don't have one. If that makes any sense.

I hardly check it out, and it's way too corporate to feel comfortable on. People got along just fine without linked in before; networking is overrated especially in the virtual realm.

This makes zero sense.

Nah famb... It has GREAT usage

And networking gets you WAY more places than you'd think.

so you connect to people you dont know where do you go from there? introduce yourself?

thats what I've been doing. some people will respond and be helpful, others will just ignore me.

had 1 older dude who even was a st johns alumni reply back to me without typing anything.

Posting just in case I ever have to make an account.

Repped OP for coming up with the thread.

My profile is about 5% filled out. All it has is my picture, my previous company/job title, and my hundreds of connections. Haha
