Racist Dr. Seuss Drawing On Auction

He was born in 1904 there's a good chance some of his teachers where around before slavery was abolished . if he truly did change in his later years then props to him

I'm not surprised tbh. What was accepted back then was so totally different than now.

Giving props for not doing what you're already not supposed to be doing? Sounds backwards to me.

Help me understand something.

If you can use the "product of your times" defense to exculpate someone from their prejudices, why is it that they deserve credit for expressing remorse for these positions later in life, at a time when they are no longer socially acceptable?

Isn't the supposed "redemption" just a product of its time, too?

It's also in Dbz in the cell games tournament

He is the only character that gets me in my feels[emoji]128516[/emoji]
I mean the examples from Tom and Jerry, etc caught me off guard at first but never really bothered me.
But some of the characters in manga and anime are hands down some of the worst[emoji]128516[/emoji]
Also Mr.Satan(DBZ) is I guess a play on Hulk Hogan but he always had me feeling some type of way as well[emoji]128516[/emoji]

,it's not hard to see since it's basically just like one of those old school blackfaced caricatures you used to see in many older cartoons. Same with Popo.

I remember reading somewhere that they got rid of all those old episodes and actually edited them so it's almost impossible to find the originals nowadays.

Here is her updated look

To me at least , there's a huge difference between being insensitive and being racist . For instance , Sterling never in his recorded conversation used any slurs or racial epithets . His views on the world and how he conducts his business made him racist . Then you have say , Justin Bieber who rattles off racial epithets , stemming most likely from uneducated ignorance . No remotely educated person would bet his house on Justin's knowledge of slavery, the civil rights movement , The Plight of African Americans . For all he knows is the leader of the free world happens to be black , his favorite athletes are black , his favorite musicians are black...his friends are mostly black ..the biggest Hollywood star is black ...the head if his record label at the time , l.a Reid is black ..... 0.05 percent he came up with that joke . He's most likely retelling some joke he heard get laughs .

Now to Mr Seuss , The human brain develops and continues maturing and forming until about 25 . If you where born just outside notoriously racist Boston , fresh off the civil war being raised, taught and instructed by a mostly racist community my guess you at the very least will more than likely barring any major outlier be insensitive to the plight of minorities . I can't tell you if he's ignorantly miss-using using satire in his art , but I do know older people are notoriously stubborn and stuck in their ways . Thus if one is able to look back at his life and admit wrong doing he personaly warrants respect from me .

What will be interesting to see is if this picks up enough steam that schools start pulling his books off the shelves....

Where you planning to go?
Not 100% sure of where yet, not sure of where I would be comfortable going alone. Know a lumpsome of people in Haiti and in Canada, so those places are in the cards too. Don't mind shedding my first world skin, I just got a ish load of business to take care of before I can actively think about it
