Official Fallout 4 Thread - Release - 11.10.15

Im rolling with MacCready now. I was getting some of that weird robot synth loving but Curie was keeping me too clean. I need to be a savage out here and MacCready down for the clown.

The castle is no joke. Finally beat it last night. Im level 34 on very hard and it took me like 45mins. I kept blowing myself up though

If you want to level up grab that idiot savant perk in the luck tree. Level 2 of the perk give you 5XP randomly. I did a side quest that netted 1700 XP because the idiot savant perk kicked in. At max level the perk gives you random XP and then every kill for a limited time is 3XP. The lower your INT the greater the chance of the perk activating. My dude dumb as hell so i get multi XP damn near every 3rd action or so.

What was yall initial high SPECIAL? I went with a 9 in Luck and spread everything else out kinda evenly. Due to my high luck i never need to buy ammo or fusion cores. I find a ton of each in the wild. Ive found 4-5 fusion cores in one box a few times. Sitting on like 30+ of em.

luck is def important.

i had 5 parks sitting so i finally leveled my perception high enough to unlock the sniper perk. I have gun nut 4 and when i hit 41 (im 40 now) ill have a 4 in science.

i want to get the penetration perk too, you can shoot people through walls, apparently.

my current favorite gun is a combat rifle, silenced, with the long quick eject mag.

88 base, + 20% silenced (maxed sandman perk tree) + 5 x damage when sneaking = 5.3x damage from sneak

i have a sniper rifle, .50 cal, does 115 base damage, + 25 bleed damage, plus the other damage above. If it doesnt kill in one shot, they immediately bleed out.

pretty bummed out about the factions; not only can you side with ALL of them, I really don't want to side with any of them, besides the minutemen, and thats just to have my original house.

also, you can only do 5 stories high in sanctuary, i guess red rocket is higher (from other people's buildings)

You can pick the Minutemen and I think you just become neutral with everyone except the institute, not sure on this though.

I'm at a mission where I have to build something with Virgill to get in the institute

I have the option to ask the railroad, Minutemen, and BOS for help

Is this mission near the end because I will do other missions

Yeah that's kinda close not too many main story missions left after that....

Finally found all 20 Bobbleheads :smokin

In New Vegas before you are about to beat the game it asks you so you can go back and do side quests

Does this game do that?

Fallout 3 was kind of ruined for me because after the main story the game was done

It doesn't ask you,but it also just keeps on going, the end cinematic plays then you just keep right on with whatever you want to do.

Beat the story, level 43 right now, it's gonna take forever to get to level 50. Any places or quests to farm lots of XP?

Depending on where you stand with each faction, also 50 won't take that long,50+ is when it starts to get grueling..

I sided with the Railroad on my save. Gonna find a way to farm XP so I can to 50.
The random missions you get from Preston at sanctuary are with 250+ XP usually and you'll earn more during the mission from fighting etc.so they are worth a total of about 400.

I didn't really notice it becoming particularly grueling past lvl 50.

I'm 56 right now, just got to the Mass Fusion main quest.

my dude told me, "this is just like skyrim"

and i didn't get it at first

but it is,

the "main story" and factions are simplified, and you're supposed to get lost in side questing.

i miss the deep "overall view" strategy from new vegas, hell, i miss ammo weight and bringing enough food and water to survive the trip....(Also, initial perks due to the level cap. Made leveling and perk grouping much more strategic.)

I'm close to restarting for my second playthrough. I'm considering avoiding the main story altogether and playing as a true loner, with no minutemen, let alone BoS, institute or railroad. (until i complete everything else, of course)

The new legendary enemy = legendary item watered down the unique/rare items; I have hundreds of both. Having ACTUAL unique items made them cooler to find and use, imo. (Mysterious Magnum > * )

I mean, it's still the best game i've played this gen, and well worth the wait.

I, too, am excited to see how deep the modding gets once they open it.

i definitely need a NV hardcore mod.

sidenote: coolest item i've found was a stars and stripes bandana.

i got the red one, but not the blue one. my dude found a blue one when he was like level 8

i want to change my combat helmet black but i hate how armorer is linked to strength.

to people new to fallout, save pre-war money. it stacks up and you can basically trade it as money to vendors
