Quitting Coffee

You see how I went from 2 cups one day, and now I'm close to 2 pots by myself.

Then I smoke and that eliminates the caffeine much faster from my body. The headaches are the worse part about the withdrawals for me.

But I feel like my mind is sharper when drinking it.

Coffee is a way of life. Good luck OP.

this.

I feel like people try to quit because they become "addicted" to it. Forget about being addicted to it and just enjoy it for what it is. It's like a magical elixir. That is my only caffeine source but I don't even care about that I love the aroma and the warmth of the coffee in the AM. When I didn't drink coffee I would fall asleep EVERYWHERE and always had a hard time waking up. With coffee I snap out of that groginess right away. I don't understand why people would want to put up with that.

I don't understand coffee addiction at all. I just don't. I love coffee and pass by a Starbucks, joe art of coffee and stumptown everyday and indulge every once in a while but I don't feel the need to have it everyday multiple times a day. Also coffee does nothing to me. Matter fact I could fall asleep after drinking a grande sized coffee.

because coffee is the drug of choice for people who are scared of "drugs"

huh?

That's exactly how I feel. I just feel more focused when drinking coffee

Yo, thats the thing! I don't want to feel sleepy and groggy without drinking coffee but its tough.
This. Like people can't function without coffee? Get some more sleep or exercise more so you have more energy.
I exercise pretty often (would consider myself well in shape), although getting good sleep is another thing. I'm have some insomnia and recently trying to quit smoking trees (another thing in itself) But I love getting coffee after a good cardio/jogging session, the extra boost of already feeling energized is amazing!

You are more focused.. it's a benefit of coffee and the caffeine. It makes you more alert.

It's not really that simple. I exercise regularly and get at least 6.5 to 7 hours of sleep a day. Coffee gives me that extra boost in the morning to get my day going.

So does a good breakfast.

I was unaware that Latter Day Saint's do not drink coffee...

Im curious, is this a rule/suggestion made by Joseph Smith?

Is this something many Mormons follow?

Well it was revealed through revelation, that some "hot drinks" were not good for the body. It was called the word of wisdom. (https://www.lds.org/topics/word-of-wisdom?lang=eng)

Something interesting though! When the word of wisdom was revealed it stated that tabacco was not to be taken in any form by the body, smoking and chewing. Everyone in the church was outraged and thoguht it was absurd, because "tabacco does nothing to the body" little did they know that a study woud be comducted 80 years kater confirming the harmful side effect.

i usually average 12 hours of sleep a day and coffee still wakes me up better than just plain old being awake...

I usually get the Ethiopian Sidamo from Starbucks, but when on a budget I go for the Folgers 100% Colombian.

The taste is rich, and one of the best values for the price imo. I get the tub for around 9 or so.

See I had to go and buy the tub this week...

 yeah I failed too, doesn't help there are unlimited keurigs and other fancy coffee machines at work. I wish I never had that first good cup. The withdrawals are tough, I would have to fight through the headaches, but I can't as they're full on migraines for me. That then leads me to excedrin which is loaded with caffeine.

I have to bring my own coffee maker to work, but if I had those machines around me all day I know I would have started back up.

But I've lost a little weight around my stomach area too.

I'm skinny, but you can easily tell when you add some weight on.

i see this turning into an appreciation thread where people will list there favorite coffee grinders, beans and what countries make the best coffee.

Poor OP hahahhaa.

I wouldn't say I'm addicted, but I need it because I don't sleep enough (my fault) and work is boring. I need either coffee, candy, or soda to stay awake, and coffee seems to be the most affective and least harmful of the three. I also use it if I have to stay up late to do computer work. Taken in moderation, I don't see anything wrong with it.

I quit coffee about 3 months ago because my left eye would slightly twitch. Too much coffee ain't good for the nerves but I now make fruits shakes every morning. Any smoothies kings in here I need some new recipes.

Sad for me, I drink coffee for the taste. Zero need or want for the caffeine
