NT Texas Chime In

Born, raised and stuck in Bryan/College Station. It's a great college town not bad to raise a family. The worst part is the racism, small militia of police, old people and conservatives. Other than that the town is flourishing. Plus there is Texas A&M. Not much to do here besides small bars, movies, bowling or fishing. Check it out especially if you think Houston is cheap.

Dallas

Downtown is lacking right now but uptown and along Greenville is cool. Grapevine, Addison, Plano can be popping.

Construction is crazy right now but once everything is done in the next two years Dallas will be prime. In comparison to other cities, Dallas traffic isn't bad at all unless something bad happens.

Don't live is sus neighborhoods and you'll be gravy.

Plano/Frisco off the tollway is definitely where you'd want to be, can easily go most places in the Metroplex. Note: neighborhoods off or near toll roads are generally better.

In regards to food spots, just have to know where to go.

I personally love Dallas. Austin is the only other big city in TX I'd live.

Live in san antonio now. lived in houston last year, didn't want to leave. SA has a more close knit feel.

Corpus sucks honestly. I know people name all the big cities saying they are boring and there isn't anything to do....but man there literally isn't anything to do here after a year or so (and that's being generous, heck 6 months is generous ) and I've been here going on 4 years

Love love love San antonio tho. So under the radar :pimp:

DFW area here.

I enjoy it here because of job opportunities and cost of housing. Just bought a house last year and love it. I really wouldnt want to live outside of DFW, Austin, or Houston though. Personally, I would live in Ft. Worth if I could.

Dont even consider Waco, El Paso, or Lubbock though. Terrible.

Dallas is a pretty cool place. Been here for the past 3 years and had a bunch of enjoyable experiences, some bad.

There is TON of construction going up around here. All kinds of European cities and master planned communities going up.

Frisco is the place to be. They broke ground for the Dallas Cowboys World headquarters, so I know there will be an influx of people for the jobs.

I think a couple of other Fortune 500 companies are moving their world headquarters here in the enxt couple of years, so if you want to get in, now would be a good time.

The food is meh save for a few spots around town. Downtown needs a vast revamping to catch up w/ uptown. I think more money will be put into it because i think people are starting to spill out of uptown due to the prices

So I'm in the Dallas area, and can speak about what I've experienced. I live 10 mins away from where the Mckinney Incident happened.

^^ I work In frisco, right next to Stonebriar Mall. Yea theres alot of construction going on. Liberty Mutual, Nebraska Furniture Mart, UPS Distribution Center, Cowboys HQ, and Toyota plant are just a few companies that are bringing THOUSANDS of jobs to the area. I moved down from NYC area a few months ago, it's such a change. It has its pros and cons like any other city.

Pros
- Cost of living is cheap
- New construction
- Roads are top notch ( not a single pothole)
- People are friendlier
- Very Good School districts
- Many North Texas cities rank on best place to live in the US yearly
- Many jobs available
-

Cons
- Gets boring after a while
- shops close early( My local pizzeria closes at 9pm :x
- Not much diversity
- TexMex food gets old after a while
- Nothing to do after 2am on weekends
- Heat ( 100 degree + weather), no 4 seasons
- Speaking from personal experience, white people assume any hispanic person is Mexican (Not a bad thing), but it's not like back home

Never compare your behind the scenes to someone else's highlight reel

Dallas Houston, Austin and San An all have their good and bad about them

They're not necessarily making bank...

It's just that 80k gets you a hell of a lot more here than in DC, NY, LA...

The big cities are like any other big city...

Just cheaper...

People are nice too... Southern charm.

I think I'm going to move out of Texas for a couple years, but I ultimately want to come back....

Pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I'm planning on relocating as well, but only for business purposes. If not, I'd never leave. Love it in Houston that much.

Dallas born and raised. Love my city. As others have said, can't go wrong with Dallas, Austin, or Houston.
Pretty much those three cities have everything you'll need.

Fontaine hit the nail on the head with being in Frisco.
I'm opening my business there first quarter of 2016.
Currently reside in Uptown.

I live is bishop arts. North Oak Cliff "the ghetto" according to white folks yet there are 500k homes walking distance from my spot. It's basically a hipster enclave. A lot of people buying older homes and transitioning the area. But the thing about Dallas is that it's getting ahead of itself and building to quickly without the right mix of people which make Dallas culturally bland.

I think I use toll roads twice a year, mostly by accident. **** those
I use to take one to and from work everyday when I worked in McKinney. I racked up a little less than 3k in toll bills in under a year. :smh: **** em

Some very sheltered and close-minded people in Dallas though. :smh:

Wont lie, Texas in general is different if your a minority.

You tryna go to that Floetry concert July 2nd though? It's at Medusa. I need 3 more people so we can get a table and bottle service (it's $90 a ticket). Medusa VIP area is sexy as hell with the balconies and glass. GF is pregnant, and short, so the GA admission ($30) won't really work. There's a few couches in GA but they fill up fast and you can't see as well from there.

Oak cliff is HUGE...

North side looks like highland park.

Oh word?

Can you talk more about your biz? You can PM if you not trying to go public

Always interested in new ****

:pimp:

For a cali boy like myself, only Austin is an option to live in that huge state.  Still won't have cali weather there though

The great wall of china was finished in less time than the street in major texas cities.... im talking to you bay area blvd houston...... or mopac in austin

Mopac is the worst[emoji]128512[/emoji][emoji]128545[/emoji]
But doing 85 on the toll is clutch in Austin[emoji]128526[/emoji]

Lived in atl and l.a. , moved to San Antonio back in 2013 and it's blows . The only black people here play for the Spurs , are military , or go to utsa. It's chill down here thou, and it's one of the only cities I know of where you can live comfy making 50k a year. I will say where I live ( Alamo heights ) is becoming hipster friendly . Night life is non existent , and unless your in the military or moving with a family single young black dudes got it tough here . Their are plenty of jobs down here for sure because the city is still growing. I have goofed my way into a 90k a year gig with no degree or exp 3 times down here .

How much is the toll?
I want to say a $1.50(that's how much it is in Houston).
My wife has an EZ Tag so when we go visit the inlaws in Austin, it's just deducted from there.
Also if people are looking to move to Texas, San Marcos isn't bad either.
It's between Austin and San Antonio..

All there is to do in Dallas is shop and drive.
:x :x :x :smh:
I couldn't disagree more.

Tons of performance shows (poetry, music), tons of one off bars, park events downtown or off the varies lakes around the city. When it's sport seasons the Metroplex is popping. HS, College Football. Rangers, Mavs and Cowboys.

Been to San Marcos once to smash this white girl that went to school there, just seems like a college town.

Off topic, but anybody going to the J Cole concert in August at the Gexa pavilion in Dallas?
