Donald Trump is running for president

Maybe we reached a point where even if for one term, we can benefit from having it run like a business.

We getting fooled with the social issues but our finances keep getting worse and worse while big companies keep getting bigger and more powerful.

I'm a Bernie dude myself but I'm not disregarding Trump.
He's out here playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers.

I get what you're saying but I like I said being president is more than just the economy, it's about working with other countries, it's about making decisions on the behalf of other people and it's about being conscious of what's going on in your own country. Trump got to where he is by being selfish, acting for his own benefit, which for a business man is a necessary trait. But when you're making decisions on the behalf of others, which is like 99.9999% of what being a president is I think that's where trump falls short.

I'm in for Bernie Sanders
Look at Bernie Sanders accomplishments (?) throughout his life. Then look at Trumps. Not sure how you can't see the appeal of Trump.

I see the appeal, and I understand why someone would support him for his business savvy But like I said in my reply to Diego, trumps experience is in making decisions for his own benefit. I don't see that skill translating well to a position that requires him to act on the behalf different people with different needs.

This all sounds great but how real is it?
We talking about politicians bro. All of them are shrewd. People always complain about politicians not caring about the people, so why we still in love with the idea of them making decisions for the good of the people?

They're all shrewd people. That's how they got to where they are.
Politicians have to hide who they are. Businessmen get to keep it a little more real.

He's built a business worth billions and is typically successful at everything he does. He says he'll do the same with the presidency. People believe him.

I know it's a small example but look at what he did with the skating rink in NYC. I saw a feature on tv about it today. It was over budget, years behind schedule, and generally mired in city government incompetence. Trump took it over and finished it faster, cheaper, and is now a big success. If he can do those types of things with the federal government he'll make a great president.

Running a business doesn't necessarily equate to running a country. Being a president means make decisions on the behalf of millions of people. Millions of different people from different backgrounds. Being busy savvy is an admirable trait but there's so much more to being president than being profitable. Trump just doesn't have the skill set in my opinion.

Much of the government waste is due to businesses keeping their eyes and hands on the taxpayer's money through the congresspeople they help elect. A few days ago, the WAPO had an article about the US government funding a $43 million gas station in Afghanistan, when the cost of building one is usually estimated around 500k. All the demonizing of social services ignores the real takers: big business and wall street.

And how do we know that trump isn't in this just to line his own pockets and push his brand? Isn't that what's he's been doing for his entire career as a business man? I'm not here pushing one option over the other. Politicians are bad. Fine I understand that frustration. But because trump is a different option doesn't automatically make him a better one.

Trump's business savvy?

Yeah he built a personal fortune - but only after his dad loaned him $1m and his company declared bankruptcy 3 times (to be fair the third time was after he sold it). They call that reorganising but in reality it's reneging on debts and costing people their jobs. Not great attributes for someone to lead a country.

There are Republicans on NT? I thought most of us are moderate-leaning folks who can see the arguments on both sides?
Trump is a moderate? Moderate on what?

There are plenty of Republicans on NT. That a lone shouldn't be a knock on someone but.....

But Blco is also known for having a very close minded far right wing ideology, especially on racial issues.

He has been put in this place by numerous NTers, in including a couple times by Meth.

Liberals who voted for a community organizer for president say someone who built a billion dollar business isn't qualified to be president

But you think a reality TV star makes you qualified be President.

See we can go back and forth. You can call Obama a community organizer and I can call Trump a reality TV star.

The community organizer thing is just right wing silliness

Obama had 11 years of government/legislative experience before taking office, 4 at the national level, before taking office.

Trump has zero and more and more it seems his business "acumen" ***cough, cough*** won't be a substitute for his lack of experience.

My side didn't start it. Your fellow liberal NT'ers said Trump isn't qualified.

I understand that but the failures of career politicians doesn't explain why people believe trump will actually be a good president and why he has so much support. Different doesn't equate to better.

You really used this as an example of why someone is qualified to be the president.

I'll exit the thread now before I get banned for personally hurting someones feelings. NT is about holding hands

I missed that skating rink comment

Blco is a piece of work.

I said it was one SMALL example of how he's been effective. They ran a segment about it today on Bloomberg tv which is why I brought it up. If it was so easy, why couldn't the incompetent liberal NYC city government get it done? Trump had to step in after they proved their incompetence.

What has Bernie Sanders ever accomplished in the real world? How many jobs has he created? Zero.

Maybe those filthy liberals had more important issues to deal with than the renovation of a skating rink?

Here is the story regarding the problem with Wollman Park. LINK

This happen in the late 1980s. And a lot of things went wrong for the renovations to have problems. Including republicans trying to tank the project to screw over liberals.

You know what else Trump has done since he turned around that project.

Have FOUR OF HIS BUSINESSES FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY

-You always wanna use these drive by nonsense post to prove your point, and you always end up looking foolish in the end.

And of course you use a city level example. Because history is simply not on the republicans side when the discussion turns to the national level

-BTW that black liberal president you hate so much, sure did a great job of cleaning up the mess and saving the economy from disaster after the "qualified" :rolleyes George W. Bush was done with it.

Grab the apricot scrub and go wash your face, the clown make up is cloggin your pores tio

Trump explains his bankruptcies.

Again I ask how many jobs has the socialist created? What has he accomplished in the real world? Nothing.

Trump used the bankruptcy laws to his advantage, but guess what, the US economy doesn't have a get outta jail free card like that.

So you and tout your silly lil example, and I'm sure Trump has many other successes, doesn't change the fact his major go to tactic is strong arming people (something he brags about continuing as president) and still has four huge failures on his resume

And how is "how many jobs did they create" is a viable metric to decide who should be president?

Please is your explain that to me. Because something so many people failure to realize, running your household finances or running a business is no like running the largest economy in the world.

Trump believes in some straight horrible/stupid polices. Admits his tax plan will cause deficits, but "don't worry" the economy will grow at record rates to make up for it.....Oh btw, during all this I'm going to extract 11 million people from the country completely ignorant to what that will do to production

Yet that's the man you championing.

Since when has "how many jobs have they created" been a metric to determine who is most qualified to be president?

Bernie Sander's life work has been fighting for equality. Both racial and economic

The man has served at every level of government and has routinely been on the right side of history so many times it is nauseating.

Would the economy do better under a candidate like Clinton got her way (dems historically have out performed GOP, so miss me trying to argue a conservative president would be better for the country). Probably yes

Would America be a more just and equal place if for everyone if Sanders got his way. Hell ******* yes

Most of the policies Bernie is pushing are long over due.

His resume, and legacy in public policy is enough for anyone with sense to see why he would be a better choice over that xenophobic clown Trump

Either way, I think sensible folks win here. These people will either get the things they hate, a woman or a black guy. Or they'll get an idiot that will put the country in such bad shape that the next President will be a woman or a black guy.

Hilldawg has this in the bag. I'm looking forward to how she'll perform as president.

At the end of the day both Carson and Trump are shooting themselves in the foot the longer this primary season drags. I'm just enjoying watching it all fall down slowly as each one tries to one up the other by making ludicrous comments bigger than the previous guy. The only sad part is when I watch foreign news channels/read foreign news and see how much they are making fun of us :smh: It's depressing that that we are being labeled as this.

I do agree that Sanders is the best candidate by far from the Democrats, problem is his label of being a socialist will cause too much harm and the democratic voters just aren't energized by him enough to go out and vote in large enough numbers to overcome that label.
