Asian Culture Discussion Thread

Personally never understood this, myself lol.

just off the top, I feel like it has to do with segregation (in terms of black people), and then later anti-miscegenation laws (in terms of Asians). So in that sense, getting a white woman = we made it!

i only ask because living and traveling around asia, i hate the thought and sight of non-asian traveling men treating asia like its their candyland. i think wisith touched on it in a previous post. but some of the arrogance and entitlement some of the foreigners walk around with really hits a nerve with me. and i hate to see those Asian women become an item rather than a woman that should be empowered. i understand the perception that they're submissive and inferior will hardly lessen any time soon, as consequence of tourism, but going back to visit the states im sure i will still keep these same sentiments close to mind despite the societal and cultural differences.

I feel you. You definitely see it all around especially the tourist/bougie areas. It's weird though cause like there's a few ways to look at this. On one hand there's the sex travelers who get in do business pay up and bounce, and the women are in the drivers seat. Then there's the foreigners who come in looking for some eye candy trophy wife, and they get married have a family and take care of their spouse and often times the spouse's family also, so it's a two way street there. Then there's the dudes who come in knock up a bunch of women and bounce, which is deplorable.

The first two, I can't really hate on the hustle even though it makes me feel a type of way. The last one is disgusting and another form of imperialism and continues the cycle of third world poverty.

Since the topic of Asian men with white women came up, what are your honest thoughts about white men with Asian women?

Tons of asian girls to go around. Let them flourish. Then again, I got some hate from a white guy a couple of times when I am with my girl who happens to be white. The white guy told her "have fun with the asian". Felt awesome. ... hahhahahah getting hate and envied. Lolololol.

Its sick, you have old white women going on "mandingo tours" in Africa and the Carribean, then old white dudes going all over SE Asia and Africa on these sick sex tours sleeping with underaged minors and stuff. I was amazed how serious the sex trafficking stuff is in SE Asian nations, and how it carries over to the States.

Sex trafficking is a huge problem in the Philippines. It's sad

Have any of you guys seen the movie Metro Manila? Very good movie that sorta touches on the sex industry in the PI. Sad as hell.

Really sad, you got these 50-60 year old dudes going to the PI to "save" these girls who are in their 20s.

The poverty is extreme, and some girls are stuck being the breadwinner for their families. The "sugar daddy" thing is real and as gross as it is to me, if the girls are getting these old dudes to pay moms rent and bro's tuition I can't knock the hustle.

It's known here in Manila that some college students turn to prostitution to pay their tuition. Classroom in the daytime, walking the streets at night :smh:

Pedos on the other hand can burn in hell.

http://abcnews.go.com/International...housands-alleged-pedophiles/story?id=20792348

Suspected pedophiles were tricked into believing they were engaged in an online chat with a 10-year-old girl from the Philippines called Sweetie, when in fact they were conversing with a team of four researches in the outskirts of Amsterdam.

Yeah, I thought the story was pretty good.

It was unfortunate what his wife had to do in order to make an income...but I honestly am not suprised. If you're poor in the PI, it's tough.

I knew a dude that was taking trips to the Philippines because he was a manager of a call center. His accomplice was his Filipina coworker who would set up the girls for him because she could talk to these girls making them trust her. shady on her part because she knew what she was doing In exchange for some money. Dude was getting his subway on. Anyways they were being investigated by the higher ups at work for embezzling and some other things. They were on the way to the airport and got snatched up by the Feds. Don't know what happened after that.

i think, unfortunately, for much of southeast asia, and asia in general, sex trafficking is there to stay. as much as we'll detest and voice our disproval, it just comes with the territory of being in this part of the world. it's not something that will just go away in the next 5-10 years. it's everywhere. if the cab driver or guy next to you on the elevator doesn't know where to find it, he knows someone that does. as terrible as it sounds, do we just accept that that's just how things work here? not saying that we'll become desensitized to it, but what really can we do? we're not in control of that stuff, the world just isn't fair in that respect to the girls that get caught up in that web. you'd hate to think about your mother or sister ever being put in that situation but that's life for some people. living in america we're protected, life is good, food at the table and saucy gear to keep us warm. sometimes i seriously wonder why we were chosen to avoid that kind of life, why it isn't us that are back in our motherland having to deal with doing whatever it takes to survive.

Salamat for the recommendation. I may check this out.

My wife's Greek and we'll be visiting each of my parent's provinces when we go out there next year. I'm sure she'll be the first "white person" most of them ever saw in their lives

thats a great movie. more so about poverty in the philippines than anything.

Inferior?

The perception is that asian women are SUPERIOR wives. Americans tend to think that a girl from abroad wont divorce rape you and take your kids and half your cash. In actuality in Japan it is normal for a divorced father to never see his kid. A woman can easily have a child then move back in with her parents (happens a lot). In singapore they will divorce rape you like any american woman since American culture is taking over basically everywhere.

I will admit it does seem to me that asian women hold their men down better than other races tho. IDK if its just because I am looking from the outside or not. All asian international students I knew never cheated on their husbands back home. All the white ones did. They seem very supportive. And asian females seem to pull their weight in a relationship

Definitely ^
Through all that my parents had gone through, my mom's still stand tall and strong.

My moms / pops are 45yo / 53yo, retired, and vacation 7 months out of the year.

Truly an inspiration to me. From broke immigrants to giving no dambs about anything but enjoying the fruits of their labor and spending time together seeing the world.

i can understand the perspective that they are superior wives, but with that being said i would hope that if i have a daughter she will be sought after and pursued with more merit than the prospect of her being a loyal wife. i still dont feel like the perception of being a loyal and "supportive" wife is enough to argue that an asian woman is being empowered and supported. i would hope that her independence and what she brings to the relationship makes whoever she is dating realize that she can live perfectly fine without him if he isnt providing in all aspects, and she has the power to leave. if he's not building her up and encouraging her to be the strongest asian woman she is capable of, then i don't feel it is worth her time. if those white students cheated on their husbands out of neglect and being taken for granted, i would hope that the asian women weren't staying in a dead end marriage due to a sense of helplessness and lack of support. as much as i would want my asian woman to carry her own weight, i would admire her even more knowing that she has more than enough confidence and ability to carry all of it.
