Overrated vacation destinations

I lived in Virginia Beach for a year because I was in the military. I never understood why people went there on vacation. That **** baffled me.

I also don't get the hype of going to New Orleans on vacation. Grew up there.

Because it is a beach that is close to where they lived. Nobody is really going to Va Beach unless you live in the surrounding states. Don't make it out to be people from Oklahoma are going there for a weekend vacation

NO: Food would be the only reason I would go there

As far as NO is concerned, I've been through there but never stopped. I knew two dudes that were "from" there, and in all honesty, it's because of those two dumb asterisks that I'd never go there on purpose.

Why were they "from" there in quotation marks?

Maneeee, turns out these dudes were repping NO so hard, so hard, and this was early 2000s and Cash Money was starting to heat up nationally, but come to find out one dude was from Baton Rouge, and the loud mouth dude who was "tough"because he had a .38 under his car seat was from Opelousas. Frauds, these dudes alone ruined everything Louisiana for me.

two dudes alter your views about an entire city and state? WoW

that's pretty weak, but hey ...

NO is pretty chill outside of the wards. Good food, things to see and nightlife can be pretty crazy.

I guess some people think of a vacation destination as a place to relax by the beach with great weather and great nightlife.

Others can simply enjoy things to see and do and weather is not a detriment.

BR is like 2 hours away and that other place is close to Texas I think. :smh:

Lame.

Man I agree 100% with what you're saying, maybe in the future I'd actually stop in NO, it is on my way to seeing family that I have in the South East, but man, those two clowns really hyped it up and to find out those dudes weren't even from there was off putting. That's like saying I'm from Houston or Dallas and hyping those cities up, but all the while I'm from a medium sized city in Central Texas.

Boracay (in the philipinnes) is overrated IMO. Always gets voted top 10 beaches in the world. Super crowded, expensive, activites are timed on the dot you don't even have time to enjoy.

Had much more fun in El Nido (Palawan).

Had a chance to get off of the ship(Navy), in Singapore and Thailand, never did, stay onboard, low key regret it, but was told that since I'm happily married that I didn't miss anything.

My dude said DR is crap...

Anyways, maybe because I live here but I legit don't see the magic of NYC, if it was affordable to vacay here then cool, but people pay premium to visit this city and is just overrated as hell....then again I lived here all my life and probably take it for granted.

If you think any place with nature is over rated you are simply a boring person.

Love the PNW
Love Hawaii
Love the Caribbeans

Haven't been to Europe, but I'm not too crazy about big metropolitan areas...I get plenty of that in NY.

nature >>>>>>> Cities

Atlantic City is a disaster.

Not sure why anyone would vacation there in 2015.

Disney World...hands down.

Place REALLY sucks.

Lived in Orlando eight years and been once (w wifey and her fam). Animal Kingdom was cool but everything else was BRUTAL.
