How long before you throw out leftovers in your fridge?

Defrosted some homemade meatballs last Thursday, and I'm debating when to put them out w/ the trash. It's kinda out of sight out of mind for me, but I think I usually give leftovers about a week or so before they get tossed.

Three to four days. Eat that stuff man. I hate wasting food and all thoughts of it

Me too, I feel guilty everytime I waste food. But at the same time for me, I might eat lasagna tonight and then take some for lunch tomorrow, but after that I'm lasagna' out and it just sits in the fridge until me or my wife clears out the fridge to make room for more stuff, horrible cycle.

Plus when you thaw it out it is still at the date of expiration so what would be the point.

jj just give it to a stray dog or cat. I feel better when I do that. Not wasting it technically

I would say 3-5 days. My dad is the worst, he'll just leave food in the fridge until it's spoiled and someone else throws it out. He wastes so much food that we throw out close to 40-50% of our food. He's addicted to buying food from Costco and buys more than we need and cooks more than we can finish. Such a waste of money.

I never have leftovers. No matter how much I cooks, I'll eat it all the same day. One sunday morning I tried meal prepping for half of the week, needless to say, it was all gone by 1am Monday morning

I'm the same way. I like freshly cooked food way better than stuff that has been sitting in the fridge.

1-2 days max is the timeframe that I'll actually eat it.

Sometimes they stay in the fridge for a week though.  Usually clean out uneaten leftovers on Sunday since trash day is Monday.
