Is it just me, or did top players move around more from team to team back in the day? I haven't been a footy fan for super long, but seems like more players wanted to play for different big clubs and try their talents in different leagues back in the day. Whereas now it's just that they find a home and stay there for as long as they possibly can.
Kinda makes talent an even bigger premium if that's the case. To snatch it up and keep it because of the lack of availability and willingness of players to move once they get to their first club they feel is big enough for them.
Also to build on this, but Serie A falling off and no longer being a destination may have something to do with this. Players don't really care to try their talents in Italy anymore.
