I also knew Melo was on board.

Just personal preference really. Once I took Roy, I know I didn't necessarily need Melo as my 3. I think I know the other guy people are talking about as well.

I considered STAT as my 4th pick to play the 5, but didn't want my interior defense to suffer and have a lack of rebounding.

I liked Pierce's 3 point shooting a bit more.. I also kind of forgot about Melo too 

I sure as hell would have picked someone else 3rd if I knew Melo would still be there when I picked 4th, though.

I was out of play for Melo in round 1 when I took Bird. And i thought about Gil very hard, but in the end, Billups is the better two way player and a Finals MVP. I also considered Gil tryin to feed Ray Allen vs Billups, and that was kind of a no brainer at that point. Add his defense, and I had to pass on Gil for the more well rounded player/better fit.
