Can 2 Parents and 2 Kids Live on Minimum Wage? According to New Report, Not Even Close

There are plenty of examples of people with wealth that donate their money. You don't have to be greedy just because you're successful. But hey, it sounds like you think you know everything.

Handout? Does a single person with billions of dollars really need that much when there are people that don't earn enough just to survive? Should politics really be determined by who has the most money?
Money rules the world, that will never change.

Its not even about being in the top 1%, if he came into a lot of money, he wouldn't give it away because he's "straight".

Would he not give his family and friends some money?

You can't compare an average joe winning the lottery to a person who's family has a history of wealth, political power, established businesses, stocks, bonds, investments, property, etc.

Their money is much more then what's in their bank account and so is the equal distribution of wealth.

People keep thinking it's a "it's not fair he has a billion and I only have $500 dollars" argument when it's so much more too it.

Not a fair comparison.

So when you say "spread the wealth" what are you saying? Money is money. Liquid or not.

People should step down from CEO positions, ect?

He probably means like... There shouldn't be trillions of dollars sitting in off shore accounts to avoid taxation.

And maybe like help pay for infrastructure and job creation.

I never think hand out when I see spread the wealth, I usually think "help the country/state/city with your unlimited funds and ability to manipulate the political system".

Do these people not pay taxes? Is that not where the taxes SUPPOSED to go?

If you hit the lotto for 100+ million, how much of it are you going to give away??

100M won't get you in the 1% though.

Its not even about being in the top 1%, if he came into a lot of money, he wouldn't give it away because he's "straight".

I'm not sure where you drew this conclusion from. Are you projecting?

No, Im not. I know its easy to say something from the other side of the fence.

If you started a company from the ground up, and it made hundreds of billions of dollars, would you really feel like, "Maybe I should just give this money to other people. I have enough". I think not. Im pretty sure a lot of people go in with the "spread the wealth" mentality, get there and totally change their minds.

When you say stuff like "spread the wealth" it sound like you want a handout.

I dont think I know everything, but I know enough to know what your talking about is fantasy.

Yeah, it's not about just handing out checks.

For real, taking more money from the rich and giving it to the poor will not solve anything.

tr1ll tr1ll you should look into tax evasion, offshore accounts, tax havens, and tax loopholes.

I don't think anyone is advocating a Robin Hood style come up off of the rich. I think more people just want them to pay their share, fairly.

Agreed, I do my best not to shop at Walmart. However it's hard to find any company with ethics.

Yeah that's like saying there's a politician with you best interest in mind. It just doesn't exist.

Not that I shop at walmart just saying.

"Minimum" in the term minimum wage refers to it being the minimum amount to support yourself. Needless to say the numbers at some point didn't match up anymore

It's the minimum amount they are legally allowed to pay employees. They don't care if you can support yourself adequately on it or not, if they could, they'd pay you less but it's already the minimum (legally allowed) wage

Hate the game not the player.
That doesn't give a pass for what the wealth gap in this country has become, I can hate both. The "game" didn't just come into existence and some dudes where like "well I guess i'll play". the "game" you are talking about was created by the "players" in it and they are perfectly fine if some people don't get to play.

And that goes back to what life is all about, survival off the fittest. If you don't like the cards you're dealt then bust your *** every second of every day to change it.

You're better off joining them and then making a change then just trying to beat them.

This. Most people are fooled in this country, it's always the "don't hate the game" crowd that somehow thinks they'll get to that level. So don't tax them, or close loop holes, because when I get rich I don't want any of that.

Temporarily embarrassed millionaires idiom fits so many in this country.

Man that has absolutely nothing to do with what this thread is about. Go sit down.

I get what you're saying I just don't necessarily agree. I think what benefits peoples chances of surviving the most is trying to change the current system I do not see myself as better off joining them because of what that means for others I would be doing nothing but contributing to harming other peoples chances of survival which is something I would not want to be a part of.

Yeah I'm actually in agreement with some of you on how big the problem is. The issueis there isn't a clear cut solution to this problem.

I mean join them then make a change when once you're "inside".

But systematic racists still exsists, so what are you saying?
If I had to assume what he is saying or at least what I got from it is this. At one point that was the system and we changed it, yes it has had many long term affects on our society but we can't stop at "welp they just replaced it with something else whats the point" we have to keep trying to change and fix those long term affects it has had.

Things like systematic racism and wealth inequality are institutions of our society its become so much the norm that we say things like "chalk it up to the game" and "thats just the way things are" but we don't have to play that game.

Things can be changed but they can't be changed until enough people are dissatisfied with the status quo to the point where they are willing to act on it and encourage the ones who are trying to change it instead of telling them their efforts are futile.

"Dont hate the game" only works for middle school kids. YES, hate the game, make a change, go against it. "Don't hate the game" is a great way to not progress.

Why is this so hard to understand? If this needs to be explained there's no point of explaining it

THATS WHAT I SAID.

I don't like how you tried to bring race into this.

Because 76% of millionaires are white. Asians, Hispanics, and Blacks are about % ish each.

Since one is more likely to stay in the same wealth class that they grow up in, race definitely plays a role.

People born poor:

Those that did move into the middle class:

The numbers aren't even in one's favor to reach the middle class. But blah blah blah the game, whatever, FOH.
