Welp...it's over for Post Malone

It's not even a pass, it's the culture. You're going to absorb the speech of who your grew up around, and in NY there are a lot of neighborhoods that are predominantly black, but with white/hispanic mixed in.

so the same goes for the white kids in the bronx?

Not the entire bronx, no. If you grew up around all white kids on that section of the bx, it's not your culture. But if you're the only white crip? ain't no one questioning you because it's just natural. It's actually what you know.

Tbh I don't even trip anymore.. I mean so long as it isn't used in a derogatory way in my presence then I could careless. *shrugs*

I get what your trying to say, but being Puerto Rican is a nationality. It can be a mix a different races/ethnic groups in itself. I don't think there is anyone who can say they're half-american and half-black.

I just found that strange that's all.
No I get that, but as far as nationality is concerned I can't honestly say I know where exactly my father's father is from because he's never been around.

In today's world, him watching too cute will get more slander than him saying n****. But you knew that already.

What exactly is the problem with "culture vultures"? I'm white and I personally welcome any race to embrace our culture, though I'm not exactly sure what would classify as white culture. I don't see the problem here. White people don't seem to make a big deal out of it provided they're not racist.

Honestly people get way too offended,

we all human, we all love culture, if anything if another race is embracing another race's culture so be it.

isn't this what we wanted?

No. I don want any Asian or white person calling me the n word like that **** is really sweet. And I see the lingo a lot of you all use on here, definitely a lot of n bombs being dropped when you're around your people.

Clowns :smh: :smh:

I take issue with the exploitation or mocking of a culture for financial gain.

Now, intent is hard to prove, but there are artists and executives that move that way.

Damn that. Don't call me no damn n-word. Culture my black ***

Like "Nah, it's cool guys. My friend Connor here listens to MC Get Busy, and grew up around blacks. So I let him call me and other blacks n___"

Man some people just find a reason to get mad at minor things.

I see people call artists like Macklemore culture vultures all the time though. What has he ever done to mock/exploit black culture?
To me it just seems like near every white artist who tries to make a name for theirselves in rap is automatically called a culture vulture.
Edit: There seems to be a little misunderstanding here, I am not advocating the use of the n-word, I'm strictly asking about the term culture vultures.

^ I think that all comes from them instantly making more money and winning awards than the black artists doing the same music. Mack, Iggy, Vanilla Ice all of them

You're right...that's definitely the case. It's not right, but racially these are probably the most sensitive and pivotal times in my lifetime. Some people are bound to take it too far, but I don't think it's all just made up. There is some truth there.

Side note: I like Macklemore. Not a huge fan of his music but I think he respects the culture.

I wouldn't let a white dude say it around me but I don't think this dude is racist. I think white people just hate being told something is off limits to them .

You can see the difference between the malicious "-er" and the "-ga" ending. I think there are more important things to be focusing on than him intentionally saying ***** on camera in a Vine from two years ago. This ain't no hidden wire Hulk Hogan-esque racist rant leak lol.

That being said I don't allow whites to use it around me and I really have no sympathy if this ends his career.

But I been said he should be focusing on the white audience anyways. Look at Bieber. One Less Lonely ****** Later and he's still eating. His "racist" video ain't really slow down nothing.

His overall aesthetic is questionable with the braids and gold teeth. But I think that comes more from the overall Internet/Tumblr trend of frail white boys ironically wearing gold chains and du rags and Dipset tees and ****. Which may not directly have racist implications but definitely have blackface/culture vulture undertones.

IDK. It's not black and white. On one hand you don't want to be OD and hate on anyone who genuinely likes your culture (because we do have to remember that for the past 20+ years, hip hop has been the dominating cultural force, there are no more rock/pop acts who the kids want to be), at the same time no one likes to be mocked.

Belgium Belgium

I wouldn't say its the exploitation of a culture.

I think the issue comes up, when people adopt the culture and profit from it, while those in the culture don't get recognized or bashed for the same thing.

That's hardly the artists' fault though. Today's racist society and the high up executives are to blame for that. If anyone should be called a culture vulture it's the executives that are pulling all the strings.

Not always, especially nowadays with more independent artist. A lot of these artist choose the direction they want to go.

I wouldn't call Macklemore a culture vulture. He's just a white dude rapping. Miley Cyrus? Yes.
