Woman Charged After Pit Bulls Attack Man On Bronx Street

All depends on how you raise them. If you allow them to be aggressive and tear **** up they won't stop. Pits of course have that natural aggressive mentality but it can definitely be curbed View media item 1709009View media item 1709010 my pit is almost 3 and is very friendly

Beautiful dog man I love pits that don't get treated like body builders man hate when dudes yolk up there dogs. Use to live next to a gangster that would tie weights to a collar and make him walk around with them smh

Sorry but this statement lovable but yet you won't let your child near it haha nah man
He simply said the same thing I said early that folks cried about.

I know the dog well, but I don't trust it 100% because I know at the end of the day it is a dog and can do what it choses whenever it wants

Knew a dude that used to put whey protein scoops into the dogs food. Real story

Bad owners giving a good dog a bad rap :smh:

It's really all in how you raise them. Pits aren't naturally people aggressive regardless of what you hear on TV. People aggression is usually something that's taught by the owner or it could come from abuse or neglect.

Would've put one right between both those dogs eyes

My homie's dog literally looks like this:

He clipped his ears, gave him a spiked collar and called him bullet. He told me he'd go to dog parks and everyone there would just clear out and go home. But to his credit, he has 3 babies and none of the dogs did anything to harm them. Still, I don't get why owners make their dogs look like this. Probably just something I don't understand.

I would clear out of the park too

That's not even a pit bull. Those things are wack. I like the og version.

May someone can correct me if im wrong....

Ive never owned any dog but ive heard from a couple ppl ive known that had pits that the female pits are less agressive towards male owners and thw male pits the same towards female owners. Is this true or just some bs?

From my experience males are more likely to attach to female owners while females are more likely to attach to male owners.

I said it before on here and rustled folks but pitbuls have some of the most sorriest owners ever.

Hate that breed because the majority have **** owners that put kids and adults at risk

A 62-year-old man was mauled and nearly killed in a vicious attack by two pit bulls in the Bronx, as witnesses frantically tried to intervene, police said Saturday.

Francesco Bove was heading into Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Belmont Ave. and E. 187th St. about 9:30 a.m. Friday when the dogs apparently broke free of their harnesses and began clawing and biting him — an attack so violent that a priest at Mount Carmel gave Bove last rites.

“I told him I feel I’m dying,” Bove told the Daily News Saturday afternoon from his hospital bed, his arms and head wrapped in bandages as he recalled the moments after the two animals ripped into him.

The priest, he said, told him, “Don’t give up,’ so I don’t give up.”

Police said the dogs’ owner, Cynthia Oliver, ordered the dogs to attack after an argument, but Bove, an Italian immigrant, said he never talked to the woman.

“Those dogs, they were trained to fight,” Bove said.

Bove, an artist who lives in Coney Island, and himself owns a “lovely” pit bull — Gina — was in the Bronx to explore ways to restore the church’s marble facade.

As the dogs approached, he thought they wanted to be petted, but the canines had something else in mind. “They came to me, and I thought they were friendly but they jumped on me and I felt the bite,” he said. “I started to kick them off. I lost a big chunk of my arm. I could see it. I could see the bone.”

The dogs also ripped off most of his right ear. All Bove saw was red. “My ear, I couldn’t see it, but there was blood everywhere,” the native of Isernia, Italy, said.

Graphic cellphone video shows the dogs relentlessly lunging at Bove as he writhed on the ground in the middle of the street. Good Samaritan Emilio Ortiz, 46, tried to help, but the dogs kept at it and dragged Bove to the curb, their teeth clamped on his arms.

Piece of **** owner also has been arrested 37 times since '87 :smh:

Im nervous around any animal that has the ability to kill me. I've had good experiences with dogs but they do snap sometimes.

These those crossbred/gmo dogs.

Yep. I agree 100%... Well 95%. I dont hate the breed, but there's no doubt Pits are the official dog of welfare checks and trailer trash.

Regardless of what people say, Pits are naturally aggressive, and many people are attracted to owning them due to this reputation. They feel the dog projects a masculine image and they some sick sense of satisfaction knowing their dog intimidating to others. These are the same folks who pump their dog up on whey protein, crop their ears/tails to make them look more "bad***" and keep it in the basement or backyard, alone, for hours on end because they know it's not safe to be around company or their children. A lot of pit bull owners I've met shouldn't own any pets, let alone one prone to aggression.

Now that's not to say Pits are inherently evil, or all of their owners are scared felons who lost the right to carry and rely on their dogs to feel safe when they leave the house once a day to walk 20 feet from their door to the corner store to get their Newports. I've met great Pits and they always had great owners. Growing up, one of my Dads friends had a Pit Bull that I would play with all the time and I never felt the least bit threatened. But he was also a great owner. The dog was well cared for, well socialized and frequently exercised. So many Pit owners only want the dog due to their intimidating rep and have no idea what they're getting into when it comes to training and caring for a breed like that. I challenge anyone who thinks otherwise to call up some local shelters and ask how many Pit Bull/Pit Mixes they have; the turnover rates are astounding. So many people take ownership of these dogs without the proper knowledge and resources and end up turning them into a shelter. An ex of mine worked at a shelter and told me so often times people who adopted a Pit would be back in a few months to turn it in because they couldn't handle it. This leads to a cycle of aggressive, neglected dogs being most attainable to those who are least qualified to own it.

Take the German Shepard for example, another breed that's naturally aggressive. Yet they don't attract the same kind of owners and the attack/fatality numbers reflect this. Unlike the Pit Bull, who has a reputation for violence, the German Shepard has a reputation for intelligence. Owners who gravitate towards German Shepards, often do so because they want an extremely smart dog and are willing to put in the time and effort to train them very well. According to the 2014 report “Dog attack deaths and maimings, U.S. & Canada (1982-2014),” compiled by ANIMALS 24-7 editor Merritt Clifton, German Shepards are the third most dangerous breed, yet in 32 years there have been 113 reported Shepard attacks resulting in bodily harm and 15 deaths, compared to astounding 3,397 maimings and 295 deaths for the Pit Bull breed in the same timespan. Is it the dog? Is it the owner?... I'd bode to say it's a bit of both, but I feel incompetent ownership has FAR more to do with these statistics and the Pits negative reputation.

The hell you talking about? A felon is still gonna carry a gun, not a pit if they're about that life. no one ever said I got a felony so I'm gonna get some big dog instead.

Pits were never bred to show aggression towards people. I see just a many soccer moms with rescue pits around here as I do golden retrievers. It's pretty dope actually.

My next dog is gonna be a 200 dollar rescue pit and I'm gonna put his *** through boot camp for a month and have a perfect dog. :pimp: break him of any separation anxiety and have a real well behaved dog.

It was a joke in regard to Pit owner stereotypes. Although, I do actually know someone who owns a German Shepard because he lost his right to carry and said the dog makes him feel safer. He's a great dog owner though, so whatever.

My point is, it does really have to do more with the owner than the breed. And as much as some people don't want to admit it, there is a certain kind of person who's often attracted to Pit ownership. It's not unlike CVPI owners... there's a certain kind of person who's attracted to those cars. Sure, they're reliable, but so are CVLXs, Town Cars and Grand Marquis. A lot of people buy them because they're ex-cop cars and they like the authoritarian image and reactions they get on the road. Same is true for Pit owners. There are plenty of other affectionate breeds, but people frequently gravitate to them for the wrong reasons.
