I saw the comment first and my initial inclination was that it was another user, whose name I won't mention.

so you thought it was somebody that it wasn't?

why even make a post about that?

anyways... christian culture is toxic to the christian community

something needs to be done

Funny how the Fox News crowd will use this as evidence of the "war on Christianity" but they denied that the racism permeating through every level of American society had anything to do with the Emanuel AME shooting
christians never want to admit that their culture has a problem

These mass shootings are highlighting problems, but what problems in particular other than gun laws?

Mental health.

People are going to get guns regardless. You do years in NYC if you're caught with one and people are still out here with them. People kill people.

Shooters need to start killing themselves instead of harming others.

You couldn't be more spot on. I remember watching a doccie about mental health in America, and how it is often not prioritized for treatment. Kids suffering from mental health issues may just be written off as delinquent, and given some medication, but really the issue was deeper and could have possibly been managed with the correct diagnosis, care and therapy. Later on in life, the major issues are not addressed and show themselves in various ways...

I think there needs to be a real conscious effort to re-address the way mental health is looked at and treated...

out of the biggest religions in the world can you name on that doesn't suffer from the same faults?
Agnostics/athiest societies like norway, switzerland, sweden tend to have a much lower rate of crime per capita..

christian nations like russia, mexico, argentina, US... tend to be violent and crime ridden

even within america, christians are much more likely to be criminals, rapists, child molestors than athiests/agnostics (per capita)

Mexico's problem is more complex than being a catholic country... but I can see the argument.

swedens crime rate has been rising... wonder why...

The first batch of countries you mentioned have a higher median income, lower income disparities, and often better quality of life.

The second batch have huge income disparities within their countries, and poverty is rife which is something one must take into consideration.

their religion deals specifically with income disparity and poverty...

they should be leading the world in those areas....

this shows the problem with christian culture that they won't address

Capitalism says otherwise.

their culture is toxic

Little sidebar, but I went to HS with a dude named Jared Loughner. He dropped out his junior (my sophomore) year of HS and later dropped out of the local community college because of erratic behavior. The dude was also fired from several jobs including Quiznos and Eddie Bauer at the Tucson Mall due to erratic behavior. At no point in time during all this was he evaluated for mental health concerns, despite some warning signs like causing a massive disturbance at the library of the community college.

Well in 2011, Jared shot and killed 6 people (including a 9 yr old girl and a federal judge) and shot a congresswoman in the head causing her to lose several motor skills. It wasn't until after he was arrested that he was diagnosed with a mental condition and determined that he needed medication.

I'm not saying that the school counselors are to blame for the deaths, but I feel like they should have done more with an obviously disturbed dude. Maybe this could have all been prevented

Portions of this story are all too common across America. I too am still not 100% sure who is to blame, but like I said the entire system of dealing with mental illness needs to be re-addressed. Everything from early detection, to how it's dealt with when discovered. The system needs work....badly...

Those countries are mostly homogeneous. Sharing and identity is largely why their gun crime rates are different. I do agree everything else you said

Not just religion but mankind in general

This current culture is something else man. If you dont believe in what someone else believes in you hate.

Thats just society in general

People cant bash minorities and gay people anymore so they move on to the next group of people

How about we just hold the one person accountable for their actions instead of grouping and judging an entire group off a few or even one person's actions?

wow. what is wrong with people.

condolences to the victims and their families and friends. and apologies for the unfortunately likely truth that, in the near future, more innocent Americans will be killed because we are too stupid and too ***** to make a change.

let's stop making excuses. let's stop being idiots. let's stop making this an all-or-none issue. how about some common sense for a change?

no, no, that's too much to ask. let's just keep up with the status quo. I mean this wasn't your community or people targeted.... yet. I mean it's more important to protect your paranoia that something bad will happen if you don't have your unrestricted gun rights than to try to prevent the ongoing problem of people regularly being murdered in this country. let's just accept it, right?

no, how about this --**** you and **** your guns. enough is enough.

So you're suggesting that folk should just roll over and let the terrorist win

Don't you realize that's exactly what a gun free zone creates? People that are essentially sitting ducks while some nut can come in and end their life with no ability to defend themselves.
yes, brilliant!

let's arm our children! every child in school should be required to carry a weapon. how dare we you careless parents send your child unarmed to school, where they are just going to be a sitting duck! if your kid didn't set off the metal detector, straight to detention!

strap up before heading to church or mosque or the synagogue or temple too.

...

here's the problem with that stupid argument: I don't want to carry a weapon. I don't want a gun in my home. I don't want a gun around my kids. and I don't want to walk around thinking that everyone is armed, just -- you know -- for my own protection in case a real killer shows up with a gun...

That Timid Tebow comment might be one of the more offensive things I've read on here.

:smh: Just ZERO respect or compassion for the innocent.

I really hate that people are taking the "war on Christians" angle with this shooting, although I'm not surprised. We're really gonna let the actions of 1 nut job dictate that conversation, huh?
