Do you correct the cashier if you catch them making a mistake in your favor?

I usually let them know. I went back to a Halal cart weeks later to give them a dollar he let me slide for, so yeah. That **** better come back around.:lol:

I respect that policy. Nobody is perfect.

And to answer your question, yes I correct the cashier, whether it's in my favor or not.

There were also several instances where I would witness someone in front of me drop a dollar bill on the floor unknowingly. Every time I would pick up the bill, and give it back to them.

i rarely see this, but when I do, I do the same.
 
Nope, as a former cashier, you have to be accurate.

If accuracy is a problem, they shouldn't be on the register.

A one time mistake is just that. And I'd like to be that one time mistake from a good cashier.

To answer op... yeah, I'll say something now. Financially I'm in a good spot. When I was in college tho, the store and employee was taking that L.
 
I'd only correct them if they were extra nice, if it was their first day, if it was a mom and pop establishment, or if they were extra busy (if you've worked in retail cashier positions you know). 

I'm totally cool with taking the free stuff if the person is impatient, rude, or incompetent. Not my fault they messed up/suck at their job. 

If I'm being awarded free stuff because someone else messed up its cool. I'm not blatantly stealing from the establishment or from any person. If someone drops some money I'll hand it back to them and I've paid for other people's stuff (mostly older people) when they can't.

I have at a cheesesteak spot. Paid for something with $10, got back change like I paid with a 20, so I got like 10 something bucks back. Let the guy who rung me up know (I think he was the manager/owner) and he said "you know what? keep it".
 
Swear to goodness this really happened.

Back in the day, I used to live around the corner from a Met Food. I wasn't feeling good, so I went to buy some soup and crackers. It was one of the rare times I was paying cash, but the cashier forgot to ring up my soup. I knew it, but didn't say a word. Met food has those sliding automatic doors right by a few of the registers. I had everything in the bag and was walking out while putting my change in my wallet. I **** you not, when the door opened a gust of wind blew my cash out of my hand and back into the store :lol:

I can't remember if I went back and paid, but that was definitely the turning point for me about being honest w/ purchases :lol:

Folks on here wishing death upon people but then feel bad when a cashier forgets to ring up an item?

Some of yall are either going along with the thread or just saying whatever sounds like the right thing to say.

I wouldn't have done that. One time I ordered a few combo plates and the guy made me wait on the side. I had to remind him a couple of minutes later he still had to give me my change. They're mad strict with the sauce too now. Can't even get a little extra.
 
havent had halal in years but last time i did, they've been giving out extra lettuce and tomatoes and less rice & meat

I will if it's a teenager or senior citizen. Anyone else, nope. Because you shouldn't be a cashier. Step your flourish game up.

Working in retail and supermarkets when I was younger, I know folk get fired for things like this.
 
you mean like carey didn't tell the lady from best buy that she didn't ring up the ipod?
 
If they somehow don't ring an item, I don't say anything because that's all part of their expected shrinkage, and it ultimately won't hurt them that bad. However, if it involves money (like they hand me an extra $20 bill on accident) I always make sure it's correct because if their till is off at the end of a shift, they can get fired. I've seen it happen.

Same exact scenario, I've seen coworkers get fired or have their hours cut for mistakes like those back in my retail days. I'll usually say something if they forget to ring up an item.
 
Nope... i went to a bar once and got a drink that was a dollar... it was 1 dollar drink special for 2 hours...i give the girl a 5 but she gives me change for 10... i was suppose to get 4 back but she gave me back 9 instead... i gave her a 2 dollar tip :lol:
