Lmao

My hair started to recede about 4 years ago, but never really paid too much attention since my hair was thick.  About a year ago, I noticed that my hair was also thinning from the top and crown.  My hair was headed to the George Jefferson route.  The thinning on my hair was even more noticeable when I'm out under the sun or bright lights.  So I bit the bullet and got the FUT six months ago.  The procedure was not mainly to increase my hairline, but to add more density to the frontal top part of my head and to make my hairline stop from receding.  My crown has thinned and I have started taking finasteride to prevent future hair loss.  I am very happy that I got the procedure done because I cannot pull off the bald look.  When I tell people that I got the procedure done, they do not believe me.  I got the procedure done before it became really obvious that I was losing hair.

Six months in, and I can see the growth of the new hair, and it is making my hair look thicker.  I am also getting married in less than two months, and I will not be feeling self-conscious about my hair anymore.  If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

Pics

To bestow a little bit of personal experience to NT:

First pic was a week before the procedure.  You can clearly see that my hairline was representing the Wu-Tang Clan.

Second pic was about four and a half months.  Baby hairs started to sprout on the implanted areas.

Third pic was just a few minutes ago, almost 7 months.  The implanted hairs are now in their adolescent stages.  The "W" is not as visible compared to the first pic.  Full results are expected in 12 months.

I'm very happy so far and I'm looking forward to seeing the full results in a few more months.  As I mentioned on my previous post, I could not pull off the bald look.  If I could, I would have and saved my money.

I got the FUT done, meaning they had to cut a strip of skin in the back of my head.  I do have a long thin scar, but it is not visible with the length of my hair.  The procedure itself was not painful at all.  I was given/prescribed meds to help me through the process, and never used it (motrin, hydrocodone, and ambien).

Good post sherick. Which Doctor did you go with?

How old are you and why did you choose FUT over FUE?

I went to Dr Deutsch in Beverly Hills. I am in my mid 30s, but I look like I'm in the late 20s. I chose FUT because you get the most density for the price. The key now is preventative, meaning, to keep all the hair that I currently have. I started taking finasteride right after I got the surgery. I tried rogaine, but I stopped because it gave me a bad case of dandruff (I got flakes the size of Frosted Flakes). There is also the laser treatment, but I do not have the patience for that.

God damn...how much did that run you?

I am literally sort of in the same boat. I can't rock a baldy cause my cranium is mad ******ed looking. My hair line is jacked as well as the thickness of my hair. I constantly cut my hair 2 times a week to give the top of my head a little more thickness but it's not a good look overall. I literally don't know what to do when I know the only resort I can go is do shave my head and have a 2 foot high forehead. I am also getting married in a year and hate to think what my wedding pics will look like.

While shifting hairlines through procedure is an initial fix, the main thing is still reducing the chemicals in the body that cause shrinkage to folicles.

In this case, the propecia will prevent further thinning of the hair. The cause and effects are always going to create a debate, but if you‘re willing to go to great lengths, then that‘s good for you.

bro, good luck to u. she loves u, not for ur hair. agree that the only way to keep the look is by going short. but its like you are fighting two battles, the receesing hair line and thinning of the hair. its tough when a longer strand of hair goes limp.
