just my 2 cents:

The Lakers aren't in a position to pick & choose which players they sign. If a 26 year old all star wants to go there you have to sign him.

That's just the thing. They are. I'm hoping they use proper judgment accordingly. The Knicks would actually be the ones that have no choice. Demar doesn't fit a pressing need nor is a good enough player at his projected price point. Just cause we have the money doesn't mean we blow it on the first stripper at the club when you know there's badder ones still to come.

Quotes About Kobe

LeBron James "It won't really make sense next year when you see the Lakers and you don't see Kobe in a uniform. Twenty years, 13 out of my career. It's almost half of my life."

Michael Jordan "I think, when I look back, and the first time we actually played against each other, and the competitive drive that I saw within your eyes ... is very invigorating."

Shaquille O'Neal " I do think about how we could have won more championships together-all the time. I think about that one we lost to Detroit [in 2004]. That would have been awesome. "

Phil Jackson "He passed Michael [Jordan], which is unbelievable in itself. He's the highest-scoring guard that ever played the game. The greatest-scoring guard. That's his legacy."

 at Hayward letting Kobe get 60. I forgot about that.

But naw, he'll be a Celtic because of their coach. And he's white.

CP3/Blake ain't crossin the hallway fam. C'mon.

Like E said, get the car outta the ditch, then we can start drivin again.

Getting DD doesn't kill anything, in fact he could help get Russ, or Boogie or whoever else you guys set your sights on. By trade. Having a 20+ mil chip and the young parts helps facilitate deals better.

He's an asset. We need assets. The more we have, the better options we'll have.

Not to mention, he might actually be willing/wanting to go work with Kobe with DLo, with Randle, Clarkson etc. And that could be beneficial in its own way.

And if he brings Horford, or Whiteside, or Batum, even better. That's the goal. To get not just Demar, but 2-3 of these guys.

I don't think he has near that kind of pull where he's bringing in other guys just to play with him, but if that's what you believe that's fine.

I don't see how his presence would entice Westbrook to come seeing at that point it's a log jam of combo guards.

As for CP3 or Blake...don't be so sure

Do we HAVE to spend a certain number of our available cap space like NFL teams do?

If so how much?

There's a cap floor, I believe. Don't know exactly what it is with the new numbers though, we'll find out even the league releases the hard numbers.

Only "penalty" if the team doesn't reach the cap salary floor is the leftover money gets re-distributed to the players on the team.

Lebron is 40 years old?

My plan would be ship out all the youngsters, and the pick if we keep it, for Boogie and Butler

Go all in trying to get those two, throw future picks in there too.

But you have to have some backdoor wink wink assurance from KD that he'll sign if we can get Boogie and Butler

You would also have to have boogies people know what's up so he demands a trade and forces Sacramentos hand

That would make us instant contenders with a young big 3 of stars

This would be my plan A shooting for the stars approach

Addition doesn't always result in improvement bro.

He takes shots and development away from the youngsters just like Kobe was doing.

Sure, we need a shooting guard and yes I know shooting guards shoot (you didn't have to be condescending about that but it's okay), but wanting to spend that money on a more efficient SG isn't as ludicrous as you're making it out to be.

So what if there's no better options this summer? Wait it out, the cap floor "penalty" isn't much of a penalty at all. Get Batum and Whiteside and let them all gel together, let DLo and Clarkson get their burn and continue to improve.

If we sign DD then cool, I'll support it. He's ours then so we have no choice but to be positive and make the best of it as fans. Of course having a 26 year old all star isn't a bad thing. Id be grateful, we need as much firepower as needed to compete in the west.

But if we don't sign him, there's still lots of positives to that scenario as well, especially if the money is spent on more of an all around talent like Batum who gives more to the team than just field goal attempts.

Stop being black and white and understand that

One more time, 23.5/4/4/1 on 45/34/85 at 17-18 shots per game, PER 21.5. Age 26.

Who, exactly, you getting better than that? Show me the list of names.

I'm not even saying he's a champ, or key, or anything like that, he has weaknesses. Big ones. But pushing him down to prop up.....whom? Who is out there doin better than that? I'd be happy to chase those players. Who are they?

And, again, I want BOTH DD and Batum.

Both.

Ok I can respect that but just say your reasoning is more of a personal preference because (too much money + "avg SG in the west") aint gonna cut it lol

He wont make the ASG ever in the West so yes he will just be a above average SG

In the west would he even be a top 10 Guard?

Come on guys, why so much hate on DD? Solid player, numbers don't lie

IMO only beard, Klay and Jimmy are better at the 2 than DD
