Looking to plan my next trip. I finally got some time to take a vacation in January and it was between going to SF for the 3rd time or doing something new and going to Barcelona. I'm really looking forward to this trip.

Anybody ever been?

How was it?

What did you do?

Looking for some Protips for planning this trip.

Barcelona is :smokin

One of my favorite city's.

I visited the '92 Olympic park, Camp Nou (Game or Tour) is a must, The sneaker shops are :smokin , the food is also very good.

barcelona is amazing. one of the best cities i have traveled to as well.

camp nou is a must

segrada familia is a must

any architecture Gaudi designed you should go see.

some of the best food in the world i have ever had.

go get some fresh seafood paella, sangria, and some churros for dessert.

and a traditional tapas meal is also a must.

then go party. there are a strip of clubs and bars on the marina. its beautiful.  .i forget the name but it starts with an "O"

we just got in to a cab and asked them to take us to where all the bars and clubs were.

this city is truly unlike any other city. gaudi has a lot to do with it.

Just be advised that dinner doesn't start until around 9PM.

the night life is quite good and you can still see a lot of people out and about around 4-5AM on the weekends.

check out Mt. Tibidabo and maybe even take the train to Montserrat (the views are pretty amazing).

one restaurant i really enjoyed was Cervecería Catalana. It's a little touristy, but i really enjoyed the food.

I went a few years ago and it was awesome! I'd definitely recommend Sagrada Familia, all of the world heritage sites, partying, topless beaches.

Little things I recommend:

-a sandwich shop called Bo De B (I still remember their sandwiches; that should tell you something).

-try different paella around town.

-get the patatas bravas whenever you get tapas.

-biking around town.

-wandering La Ramba at night, but be alert and try not to get got.

-FC Barcelona match if you can

-Montserrat

-train to Madrid

Have fun fam!

Great advice G's.

So what should I do about the language barrier?

Do I even need to learn some Catalan?

Either bring a Spanish speaking companion, go through social networks or see if you can meet up with a friend of a friend? A friend of mine met a person off couchsurfing who showed them around and that led to a smash too, if you're up for that.  Worst case scenario, you can roll with a guidebook and get taxed a little, or pay for a guide.

As for Catalan, prolly not. Locals will know you're not from around there. They knew just by looking at me. Fortunately, I had a few people with me who spoke Spanish and had no shame about negotiating prices.

Yup!

Eat at El Quim at La Boqueira at La Rambla. Also eat at Dos Palillos. The head chef there was a chef at elBulli before opening Dos Palillos.

Cheap massages on the beach at Barceloneta :smokin

La Sagrada

Jamboree was a crackin club that played good music. 90's hiphop and r&b good!

Definitely need to go back. Although I did enjoy Madrid just a bit more.

I've only been to the airport on the way to Dubai, wish I would have stayed a couple days there

Barcelona is the dopest.
Went to the museum Catalan, camp nou, sagrada familia.
Bro, go to the beach and get you a 5 euro massage while you sip on a 5 euro mojito. These 10 euros will make you feel like the man of the year. I honestly felt like I was living life at that point in time lol
I tecommend going to calle olympica (I think that's the name) there like 6 clubs back to back right next to the beach. Clubs end like at 5 and you can watch the sunset on the beach. Beach will be packed as well lol

You'll have a blast bro.

is it really common for chicks to go topless at beaches over there?

I've heard from numerous people that Barcelona has the most beautiful women.

The Castle of Montjuic hasn't been mentioned! You can walk up to through a multi level park or take a tram. Great views.
Also, take the tram near the Miramar Hotel to the beach area others have mentioned (Barceloneta). Check out any and everything Gaudi. Casa Battlo. Just awesome.

If you bring a map with you then he language barrier won't be so bad...might be a little embarrassing but you will get where you need to go

Bump this thread , heading there as we speak , in the winter can I still do all of these .

Don't pay for any cabs..use the metro for everything..u will save mad euro

Barcelona is a beautiful city.

Make sure you hit up La Boqueria, it's an outdoor market with lots fresh fruits, vegetables, and delicious food.

- Hit up La Sagrada Familia to marvel at the amazing architecture

- Hit up the Guadi Museum and go to the top terrace to view the city with a nice view.

- Make sure you eat at "Las Ramblas", you can get some really good paella there

- Hit up the beaches to see gorgeous topless european women :smokin

- Make sure you get a whole pitcher of Sangria, and invite some chicks over to drink

- You'll hear everyone say "bale bale" , after each sentence lol
