Very lazy and undisciplined, just reaches and "lets" his man get by him and tries that behind swipe which works like %0.00001 of the time, dies on screens so easily then doesn't even chip or follow the big down into the paint. Like you said, when he's motivated, he is an absolute beast. He just isn't very often anymore.

But our bench though, that's where we are losing.
 
The screens are what kill Russ.

He'd rather give up an open shot than fight through it.

It's not even about "locking people up", but his effort just isn't there on that end. Like you don't have to be going 100 on the defensive end, but you gotta be in position. When I watch Russ on the defensive end, he's out of position, or not paying attention, or lazily reaching and dying on picks.

It can be done. Other PG's do it...and Russ has done it before. When locked in, he gives ball handlers hell.

although a few extra steals wouldnt hurt my fantasy team

Tweet him about the foolishness of playing those all bench lineups. Payne got 12 minutes today too, but it's time for him and McGary to get bigger looks too. At this point, you can't play any worse than DJ. Need more Morrow (at the expense of Dion), but you see below why he is in Billy D's doghouse. I saw him get took to the basket by Stauskas the other day, no screens, no trickery, just straight iso at the top of the key

About a week ago they dealt him and Ennis to Memphis for Jarnell Stokes and Beno Udrih. Heat just trying to reduce salaries.
