When I used the word elite I mean in conjuction with 2 way players.

Much to the game than just offense.

Bruh you know logic isn't allowed in this thread. Being a two way player means nothing if you can't score 30 on any given night and dance. Breaking down and collapsing defense, running offense, passing to the open man in their spots, on ball defense, rebounding, blocks, steals all are secondary skills.

Who said any of that?

Yea but that isn't fair man because if we are talking about removing elite players in favor of 65/35 (defense/offense) Two-Way players, you are going to have to fight and explain why that two-way players deserves the nod

Kawhi over Melo, I say hell no

It would apply to anyone who thinks Irving making team USA over John Wall is anything other then his affiliation with Duke.

I should have known what that was about.

I was over here defending Melo vs. Kahwi.

I hear you. It wasn't directed towards any one person like I said. It makes logical sense on a team USA where scoring is in abundance, the last thing you need is more scoring. Distributors is what you'd need more of.

Kyrie was the world cup MVP. He already has experience against the best the rest of the world has to offer. He's not getting cut in favor of John Wall.

Ehhh, Kyrie was pretty good in the Worlds and it isn't like Wall's defense is that much more necessary than Irving's, relative to team USA.

It's not like they are playing juggernauts at the PG position that warrant some defensive stalwart.

Irving makes more sense for team USA then wall. I'd rather have a guard who can spread the floor and knock down open shots. Pgs like rondo and wall r kinda pointless in international play

Why would somebody have to defend a 65 defense/35 offense player making the team( Which isnt true) but not have to defend a 65 offense/35 defense plyer making the team?

This line of thinking..Boy I tell ya

This isn't even about dismissing the defensive side of the ball.

Relative to their competition, being a two way player is overstated. They don't "need" KL or Dray to overwhelm teams defensively.

If this was the NBA it would be a different argument

The only argument for PG over Kahwii is that he can create his own shot better

Not really necessary on a team that's going to have a lot of scorers

KL not too shabby in that department anyway

There is already enough size and length at his position so we don't NEED Kawhi's defense.

We benefit more by having Melo's offense (without Kawhi's defense) than we do from having Kawhi's defense (without Melo's offense)

Kyrie is chosen based off the only two things he does better if you believe he's more deserving. Scoring and ball handling. Those who would take Irving believe those 2 skills > everything else a player can do. Like I said in my first statement. Curry can also space the floor and hit jumpers. Why have two of the same players when you can be more versatile. It doesn't make sense logically.

Can't go wrong with PG or Kawai but KL may make more sense here as a better spot up shooter. But team USA HAS to pick Paul George because of his injuries so IMO it's null and void to discuss

Kevin Love shouldn't even be considered in all honesty.

I'll lose my mind if Kevin Love and Harden are on the same floor together.

Anthony and George arent really measurably better offensively than Leonard anymore.

This aint 2013 anymore.

Yea but when those two things he does better are the main things they need him to do its a no brainer. International play and nba r very different

Depends on which measurements you are using. He IS a better ball handler, he CAN create his own shot better than Kawhi (has shown). So we can measure that, so he is measureably "better."
