2016 Houston Rockets Pre-Season Thread - Preseason Finale vs Spurs

Rockets ship isn't ready to take off tho
Um what? Yes it is.

A couple months removed from playing in the WCF with minimal roster changes. They very well are, just have a rough patch right now. Better start showing more effort and having an actual game plan though before they fall behind and have to dogfight with Dallas, Phoenix, Portland, and Memphis just to get in the playoffs.

Pretty much my feelings. McHale doesn't have anything to do with blown layups, not boxing out, and bricks.

Yeah man I agree. I just think they are gassed from last year and they think they can just coast regular season into the playoffs. Lets hope not.

So if everybody in the locker-room is dumb enough to think they can coast into the 2015-2016 playoffs...what person or set of persons are supposed to correct that?
Is it something that can be corrected? or we just wait around for them to show this effort yall are speaking of?

Do the Spurs come into the season thinking they can coast without effort? Do the Spurs only employ players who give 10000% effort every night?

Great coaching can negate the lack of effort through really good execution of simple plays. When great coaching isn't there (like it clearly isn't here), the players need to have some pride. On the span of 10 games, they've let Will Barton, Bogdonavic, and Raymond Felton have styled on them. They should be embarrassed. At this rate, Kelly Olynyk, Vince Carter, and Aminu will be 30/15ning them in consecutive games.

KJ :pimp: lets see if he plays

I should've said great coaching could eliminate that. If you're put in better positions to score by actually have a plan instead of what seems like freelancing, then players probably wouldn't get frustrated and lazy, leading to this current game we have here with the Rockets being down by 20. I have no idea what's wrong with this team right now They look lazy and lifeless, and it seems like every team they face can smell blood in the water.

Sooooooooooooooo anybody wanna hit us with the it's still early in the season bit? Outside of two games they've been awful; and we've seen no improvement since the beginning of the season.

Up 15 against the Celtics to wind up down by 29 in the 4th, don't care how much Morey and Leslie love Mchale if they aren't at least finding some matches to warm up that hot seat they're crazy

So tired of the it's early in the season, we will find a way eventually.

Every game matters, play with some pride man.

But lol, Mchale has lost this team IMO

It is early, but you are correct. I'd feel much better if i was seeing some heart and hustle out there, but I'm really not seeing a damn thing. All I'm seeing is guys going through the motions until the clock hits zero. This is pathetic.

So fire McHale then what?

The players are still the same.

Bruh...these are the same players that went to the WCF last year. You have a bonfide superstar, a center still "capable" of being dominant on the defensive end and great role players. Boston doesn't have 1/10th of that and they ran the Rockets off the court tonight.

Mchale has lost these guys...they don't play hard for him; and have no mental toughness. As soon as a team makes a run they give up like oh well we're gonna loose

I find it hard to believe any other coach would be doing much worse.

It's the same coach who went to the wfc as well. I think it's clear what's happening so far goes beyond coaching.

And there's no guarantees these guys will play hard for the next guy.

We CAN gaurantee they aren't playing hard for the current guy and last year James had a career year which hid a lot. Now he's slumping and no adjustments are being made to get him going or improve on D. If there are adjustments the guys aren't doing it because all these games look the same

...pass...pass...pass...give it to James 30 ft away and pray.

...D up! Get blown by help is late...get a layup or open 3 SMDH

I've watched most of the games and these guys aren't just losing they are getting embarrassed...no excuse for that with this talent level.

Use some logic fam. An entire team (15 guys) all just have no drive or effort?

Per Calvin Watkins:
Ty Lawson said Kevin McHale would make a defensive call and the team would run something else. He said meeting should fix the problem.
Ty Lawson said the Rockets had a players only meeting Tuesday morning. He said it was a productive meeting.
Rockets were smiling and laughing as media were let into practice today. Good sign that they're still together
