There is no other country that is even remotely close to being comparable with America when it comes to guns.
The population is obviously much smaller but you can look at the guns per capita, mass shootings, gun crime, ... and compare it to individual US states, which are more comparable in population.

Like previous poster said, they might be unrelated.
Swat found an abandon suv in pasedena, but now says its unrelated. Multiple reports of suv in different locations that were said to be suspicious, but nothing tied to the shooting yet.
