Do you guys keep every single receipt when you buy stuff?

Business yes, personal no, only if I don't try on the clothes at the store and think they might not fit. Especially not if I swipe my card. They can just look it up anyways.

Mint can automatically track your spending.

I only keep the receipts for big ticket items, I do mostly online shopping though.
I use Mint now for my bills and it does keep everything in perspective

Hate when I see "Walmart" on it though cause I can never remember what I bought in there

I'll start keeping the Walmart receipts now on to track what's being spent there, how often, and for how much

It's not just about if you're returning or not....what if there's some funny business with charges, and your receipts in the trash?

You never know.
I've never had the issue of wrong amounts being charged to my card.

All companies need to start giving the option of emailing receipts.

I keep it until it clears correctly through my credit card/checking account just in case I need to dispute the charge for whatever reason. For large ticket items (like my macbook), I keep them for a long while afterwards.

I keep my car records permanently, keep all my shoe receipts in the boxes, keep all ATM receipts until I get to a shredder, everything else I keep the receipt for until I update my spreadsheet. I have a spreadsheet for each purchase to see how I spend my money within a week/month but the spreadsheet helps me organize my habits better than just looking at charges online. It works for me but not everyone agrees with me, I'm pretty anal though. I track clothing separate from food which is separate from gas which is separate from when I go out. Gotta see when things are starting to get out of line(or with gas, see if there's any trends with needing to add more gallons of gas more frequently or something, that can come in handy to keep it tracked).

I'd recommend at least keeping the receipts until things clear your account if you're using a card, & personally I recommend tracking your spending too but that's because it works for me.

You're my hero. This is how I want to be able to view my expenses. Just haven't made time to do it. Got to tho

I keep pretty much all receipts and use them for tax write offs towards the business. I write off almost everything towards the business even the mileage on my vehicles. Every little bit counts imo.

When I first got a debit card and money to spend I used to keep all my receipts in a shopping bag. This was during high school and I think I eventually had enough to fill half a hefty bag full of reciepts. Never had a use for them except to look at the bag and feel guilty for all the money I spent lol. Also, all the ink started fading. I remember going through the bag before I threw it away and looking at the **** I bought :smh:

And like others have said... The only reciepts I keep now are the important ones, car related/big purchases

Keep all receipts for 2 weeks, then shred.

Speaking of which...if you don't have one, get yourself a shredder for your home (no ninja turtle).

I keep it until it clears through my checking account.
BOTH OF THESE

i keep EVERY receipt until it clears in my account and/or for a couple of weeks.

I keep every receipt for "big" purchase or shoe purchase in this filing folder thing

I keep all my receipts in a shoe box, and then at the end of the month after the credit card statement closes, I'll compare the statement charges to the receipt.

If the receipt is for something like food or groceries I'll then shred it, but if it's for something like Target where I may want to return something later I'll keep it if I may potentially want to return something.

Going through the statements item by item is a good habit to have.

Welp prime *** example .. i keep receipts my wife just throws it away.

My folks sent christmas gifts up here to us, well i need to return 3 different things. Receipts were sitting in the box with the stuff.

Wife reused the box to mail birthday gifts to Cali, today i go in looking for the receipts so i can prepare to return stuff tomorrow ... nowhere to be found

I said, babe do know where those receipts are that were in the box you sent. She says they were all out on the table, so im looking shes jus stamding there knowig good n well that i would have NEVER thrown it away regardless if it fit or not.

I go outside have to search through the trash and find the 3 im looking for and 4 additional (1 mine and 3 of hers).

Ish just annoyed the F out of me >: :smh:
