Official 2016 Boxing Thread: 11/5/2016 - Vargas/Pacquiao Top Rank PPV.

If GGG is 164 thirty days out he's bigger than Floyd, but not comparable to how much bigger Ward is than GGG. Odds are Ward is walking at 190+ and GGG maxes out at 170, Floyd probably walkers at 160.

Why was he willing to fight Froch at 168?

Froch is a name, and equals a big pay day.

Anybody would sacrifice advantages for a 7-figure salary. Look at Khan.

[emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji] at GGG not even being able to give ward a real fight.

I think ggg va ward will happen before kovelev

Ward has defeated a good number of great fighters, but never looked spectacular doing so. He's the boxing equivalent of lay and pray to MMA.

As for GGG, watch how he fights with calculated movements and general smothering pressure. Ward got bigger fights because he can't stop people, so nobody was afraid to fight him.

Edit: Froch is the best fighter Ward has ever beaten, the rest are meh.

Anywhere I can rewatch today's fights primarily the Ward fight, thanks!

Guys this guy has an avatar of gloves and boxing equipment, and even has the word "boxer" in his name. I think he knows exactly what he's talking about. Remember YDKSAB unless you put gloves on and get in the ring.

What does that make guys like Willie Monroe and the cab driver of the month? Why doesn't GGG take the Paul Williams or Sergio Martinez route and go up in weight to get fights?

Why move up so vastly in weight when you want to unify? At 164 he can just as easily moved down and wipe out everybody at 154. He is not a big MW by any means.

And I like how you skip back to Monroe because he demolished Lemieux.

Like homebody before you said, Ward beats GGG in a boring fight.

M mr highness , cool trolling, bro. I'm simply a fan of boxing. The gloves only signify my days fighting pro Muay Thai.

Should I have mentioned Geale too?

I don't agree. Golovkin is just as good with a better style, no hugging and stalling.

How is GGG just as good when he hasn't fought nearly the level of competition Ward has?

Nothing against GGG but I've felt the same way.
I like his style and I really want to see him compete against top rated fighters but I refuse to be spoon-fed this notion that GGG is this huge boogeyman. Everyone pays a price to get the big names be it either a catch weight or a small purse.....I need to see him catch some real bodies before I start buying the hype.

Geale was good enough for people to be impressed by Cotto beating him and a former world Champ, but who cares right.

Even when Golovkin has fought somebody that was supposed to be a challenge, people discredit the win when he pulls it off.

Golovkin isn't a boogeyman by any means, but Canelita and Cotto are terrified to fight him.

People were impressed by Cotto beating Geale how he did because everyone assumed Cotto was washed at that point. You yourself said that outside of Froch all of Ward's other opponents were "meh" but then you talk about how Geale was a former world champ. GGG has built a career off of fighting fighters that are not at his level or even pose a real challenge. Is it his fault? Not with Canelo and Cross Dressing Oscar. Do I think fighters are ducking him? Absolutely, but sometimes you have to move up and give up stuff to get guys to fight you. Did anyone really think Punisher was a legit middleweight when he stepped up to face Sergio twice and Kermit the Frog Citron? No one wanted to fight Punisher at welter so he found fighters that would. I want to see how GGG does against better fighters. I know he has tremendous skill but we won't know how talented he is until he is able to fight much better competition.

One is exciting to watch, fights often, and is trying to be the lineal champ. The other is Andre Ward.

I agree, I meant in terms of largely being untested. Both have fought a few guys meant to give them trouble, but handily won. The exception being GGG actually stops the guys he should stop and award cannot.

Ward's resume really isn't that spectacular to be honest.
