Fox's Stacey Dash Says: "There Shouldn't Be A Black History Month" Because There Isn't A White Histo

Can you "We should just be the same in America" people just stop? That would only be true in a fairy tale country where millions of white supremacists didn't constantly treat all other ethnicities unjustly. You can only say things like that when black people get the same treatment from the law as white people instead of being gunned down, Latinos aren't being stereotyped as lazy/criminals/rapists that shouldn't be allowed into the US , Asians aren't portrayed as losers that are only good for solving math problems, etc. Once "mainstream" America decides to stop treating people of color as outsiders, then you can bring up statements like that for discussion, but as we all know, we are nowhere close to that taking place.

Also, this whole "black people should integrate, not segregate" reminds me of the white idiots that say "Imagine if there was a university for whites! Imagine if there was TV station called White Entertainment ! We would be called racist" Black universities, scholarships, tv stations, etc. weren't created to segregate black people from white people; they were created as a logical response when black students weren't allowed at universities or feared for their lives while attending, black students were overlooked for scholarships despite being equally qualified, black actors were rarely given major roles in TV shows and movies, etc. None of these things would even exist if mainstream white society accepted black people as equals, so it's ridiculous when white people/apologists shift the blame onto black people and accuse things like HBCUs and BET of being racist  :smh:

Honestly, I've given up on these type of white people....which seems to be the mindset and feelings of a lot of them smh :smh:. How somebody can question the existence of an HBCU, a Black TV station or awards show.....with this country's very RECENT history......just lets me know that thought process is clouded by close mindedness, hate and stupidity.

i like to give people the benefit of the doubt and hope they really are on to something when they seapk, but just don't have the right words.

maybe she means that BET shouldn't exist because she thinks it should be rebranded as something that does a better job of doing whatever it is she thinks it should be doing? so kill of BET but put something else in its place?

and instead of black history month it should be black history every day? or like just way more holidays throughout the year celebrating minorities (and work places actually honoring them)?

Thats how I saw it but hey
Thats how I interpreted it

That not even close to what she said

Look up some of her more ignorant statements and you'll realize she meant exactly what she said

[emoji]128514[/emoji] I can see her recent reputation doesn't help her narrative but I stand by what I said **** BET and a black history month black inventors and African Americans making history or that has already made history should have a spotlight on the daily

So what if BET started highlighting non-Black entertainers more? I agree we need to see more of that from them.

CENTRIC and OWN do a good job of highlighting those individuals

Who said otherwise ? Your prob the type to say that Christmas is everyday type **** :smh:

There is nothing wrong with having a month to celebrate Black culture and heritage in a predominantly white washed society. Nobody says to ignore us the other 11 months of the year.

Literally every other channel on TV highlights those individuals everyday. Why does BET need to ? Like dude said them giving best New Artist to Sam Smith over Fetty was a damn joke

I agree, they SHOULD have the spotlight, but if they don't, there shouldn't be outlets for blacks to even have the chance of spotlighting those individuals?

The fact of the matter is, nature blessed us genetically. They are aware of this and realize that the only way to keep us from being great is by artificially limiting us through systematic oppression

It's sad how alot of black people don't know our true history.

We are genetically gifted and complex. Think about it for a second. Take our hair for example, do you know how complex it is for us to grow hair that forms complex coils with each strand. No other race is capable of this. Their hair just comes out straight and it's less complex to form

Coiled hair = genetically gifted?

Oh yeah, No other reason. This one has GOT to be systemic racism.

Thats how you feel and thats ok
I'm not the only one that saw it like that though (shoulder shrug)

Let me ask, so do you agree that there shouldn't be a month to celebrate your outside of "Black History" heritage and culture? Regardless of race - Native American, Asian American month, Latino-American month, etc? As an understanding, there's nothing wrong with wanting to single out your heritage and raise awareness of your culture and its contribution. Because some of our own parents or communities are not even aware of it themselves.

Anyhow, what bothers me about that ideal of thinking that you and you think Stacey has is neglecting that we live in a white supremacy system in which is still active in everything we do; corporate America, politics, justice system, media, money, etc. The concept of what you think she said and you believe is a false idea that will never happen.

Also, yhy is it that BET have to honor other races and award shows? It's like, people of color are always mending to please and are cautious of the race barriers. But yet, we are continued to be shown that somehow and someway we and other races are not on the same platform as other fellow "Americans"(I.E. oscars)

Even with a whole month, Black History is still overshadowed by St. Patrick's Day which is only one day. They want to get rid of Black History, then start treating it as American history so that there's no need for BHM, that's usually how that goes.

Nope

Nope it's not needed because to me it wasted do to the fact that they act as if its so narrow just like in the film industry like how many slave movies are we going to have how many maid movies are we going to have its plenty of films that came out that had a African American audience that deal with the exact same subject our history is bigger than that and people complain about how even the African American actors that were nominated for a Oscar play the same oppressed roles and I'm like damn if you feel that way make your own they got the money and as far as the BET awards they shouldn't have to diversify their awards if they feel other platforms don't give them their due the funny part is about half would not even be in attendance to the BET awards in the first place but will complain about a Grammy
Is the white man ice colder
Why is it held to such a higher standard versus and award given to you by a platform that targets your core audience

The Oscars being all white is fine but BET needs to go. She's lost.

BET is far from perfect, but to go after that in response to people realizing the Oscars are imbalanced is mind boggling.
