Adidas NMD thread

Damn these shoes aren't worth resell because they weren't worn in the NBA? Shoes can be hype for whatever reason and if people like it they'll buy it. Such a stupid argument coming from this guys mouth lol.

On another note the Nicekicks were hella limited..lined up at a store and they had half a size run..didn't get my size but at least I walked away with a pair, sz 10.
Maybe you come from a different time but the reason shoes these days that are iconic today are because a celebrity or sports player endorsed them.

Superstars didn't get a big push in the inner cities until Run DMC rocked them with no laces. Shoes can be hype for whatever reason but more so when they are endorsed by an icon.

On a side note, you gonna resell those sz10s or you actually gonna help a dude out who really wanted those shoes in a sz10? My point exactly.

Have u guys read this guy's experience at UNDFTD La Brea today when trying to cop NMDs?

I said it before and I'll say it again. With this shoe being so limited and having high resale yet being within affordable retail, the lure of getting these shoes is irresistable for people trying to make a quick buck. I analyzed the commitment and examined the hypothetical wage you can make and it's pretty much equivalent to a part-time job. Some people were saying it really ain't that serious but it obviously is.

After the sh-- that went down at undftd and SNS paris, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a dude started face-slashing the employees/customers at these stores. It already happened at Supreme.

The bigger problem is most boutique shops and big company shoes stores hire these scum and they end up being the gatekeeper for shoes that people are genuinely going to wear. Bait / Shoe Palace / Shiehks/ FTL / Champs to name a few where I have had personal experience with rigged raffles for their homies / say they never had the release in stock when they sell them to their friend later / backdooring.

I'm glad that dude shared that story and that should be spread all over LA/SoCal area. Too bad it ain't and that situation is going to get swept under the rug.

I wasn't trying to argue the merits/ethics of reselling when I linked that post. If you want to line up hours ahead and resell to make money off that time spent, thats perfectly reasonable. This was more about the disrespectful treatment of honest customers.

I've been told growing up to vote with your money. I've already started encouraging my friends to shop at other legitimate boutiques like Proper in LBC. Anything to deter future customers from helping that branch/brand grow

My post was meant to supplement the reddit post. Regardless I was agreeing with y'all.

If You Didn't Want To Line Up At The Wrong Side You Should've Went Before They Closed And Asked.

where did you line up at?

this threads a mess right now.

and im getting so tired of reading "I just wanted these shoes to wear", while they complain about the resellers, but also saying the understand why they are doing it.

About to say F it and buy the Nice Kicks NMD for 500 resale.... I hate myself for buying from a douchebag reseller!

I paid resell for the yellow. Only the second time I paid over retail for anything. Adc releasing 100ish changed my view. I'm still awaiting cream ub's to restock and I know that if for some reason these don't restock they're going to go up. They were perfect for a steeler/pirates shoe so it was a must have for me

How much did you pay?
Still looking for the yellow

I started buying Adidas exclusively about 3 years ago for various reasons, and one was to avoid this very thing. I was over having to come up with war-like strategies just for the CHANCE to purchase a damn sneaker. Things were looking good. Xeno Flux and Prisms were like the hardest adidas to get, in recent memory pre-kanye, and even that wasn't too difficult in the end.

All the undesirables have taken over my community.

AMEN preach brother it's Sunday. I sold my jordan and nike collection over 2 years ago the only nike I kept was the KD IV Galaxy All Star because KD is my favorite NBA player. Now I only wear New Balance collabs and Adidas UB's and NMD's, and they have been relatively easy cops over the past year but now it's getting stupid crazy, I feel like I'm back to dealing with Nike releases.

That's the exact point I was trying to get at before resellers and Nike heads got defensive and tried to justify what they do.

just because there's hype on a shoe doesn't mean you charge r**e prices.

Ya'll base your sneaker collection on which type of other people are interested in purchasing them?

Is the hype manufactured?  Of course it is - but thats because the product is very desirable and Boost is genius. Adidas is on fire right now, and as much as I hate missing out on kicks I love here and there - its certainly a breath of fresh air.

if people will pay the prices then yes you do
How does that help the sneaker community. It perpetuates greed and gives a person who actually wants the shoe no chance to obtain the shoe unless they pay sometimes their whole paycheck or mom/dad money for them.

Not to humble brag but I can pay the $500 premium if I wanted them that bad. But is that a realistic and fair price? absolutely not.

So you're telling me that ultra boost shouldn't be hyped because Kanye wears and endorses them? How many other celebrities have walked around in them? These Nicekicks NMDs are a collab or "endorsed" by a boutique in Texas that people follow on YouTube. Maybe that's why they're hyped? Just like if an NBA player backed them so please tell me the difference.

I'm going to help a dude on the shoes, but that doesn't mean I'm giving them away for retail either. Someone said it's like a part-time job a few posts back, and I waited 14 hours trying to get MY size. Did I? No. Do I want to help someone? Yes. But I still put time and effort trying to get the shoe so at the very least I make some money so I can pay another reseller for a shoe I missed out on.

Hype on these are because they are a cousin of the UBs and Adidas wants to make a new generation Superstar outta the shoe by borrowing the hype of UBs in there Boost technology.

I joined in on that hype because it was great to see Adidas on the map again. But resellers and hype beast are ruining it just like they did with Jordans and Nike.

Trust me, if there was an AdidasTalk and the community was big, I'd be there.
