Birth of a Nation sounds INSANE. vol. Nat Turner Slave Rebellion Movie (Teaser Trailer - p. 5)

"This of course entails purging this once great nation of young Black super predators who pray on the sexual innocence of the ever-vulnerable white female. These racist cops wish to rekindle the glory of D.W. Griffith’s film Rebirth of A Nation (1915), which casts the Klu Klux Klan as heroes who rescue post-reconstruction America from the clutches of the evil and oppressive Black Man. As this old mythos conjured in the minds of white male policy enforcers plays out in the streets of America, many Blacks lament the blatant disregard for Black life. As a response to all of the madness, their collective myth consists of a messianic male figure who will seduce them with his charisma, and galvanize them with his strength of singular purpose. In other words, many Blacks are still under the impression that this awesome Brother is going to come along and do ALL of the hard work for them. Many will praise a Jessie Williams for being eloquently outspoken at an awards ceremony. At the same time, they refuse to stick up for themselves under day-to-day circumstances, as if there is any single man or woman who is going to tell Blacks something that they don’t already know about what they “need to do” in 2017."

one guy testified that that Nate was on top of her and she wasn't moving...
and when you do that you run the risk of this happening to you.

but if you have sex with people who CAN give active consent, you don't have to worry about catching charges.

How do you know she didn't give consent? Everything you've posted has been an assumption. There were supposedly 4 ppl in the room, 2 say one thing, 2 say another...What would lead you to take her side as more credible than Parker's when there's no proof AND PARKER BEAT THE CASE? Girl obviously not wrapped too tight, she tried to off herself on multiple occasions until she finally succeeded 12 years after the alleged crime took place. And y'all somehow blame Parker for that as well. Its crazy how you're guilty even when cleared of charges when its a rape allegation. Y'all need to show more discretion when just throwing out that "rapist" title, it doesn't get any lower than that so if you wanna put that on somebody, you need to be absolutely sure of what you're talking about.

1. I didn't throw out any title I didn't call Nate Parker anything.

2. I'm not in a court of law, I don't have to use the standard of a courtroom in trying to intuit what happened.

3. I've been plenty fair, to Nate, fact is he had sex with a women under dubious circumstances, circumstances bad enough that she committed suicide. bad enough she pressed charges. bad enough witness testified Nate was hitting it and she wasn't moving.

all I've said is THAT'S ON NATE. He made those decisions, and he's gotta live with the blowback. and it should be easier to live with it given that he was cleared of those charges and he's not in jail right now.

any way you spin it looks bad, and if people don't like the way it looks they have every right critisize you and not want to see your movie.

next time don't have sex with drunk women.

Truly ironic.

The same cats that talk about the inability of the black man to get justice in America are the ones who defend Nate Parker on the grounds that he was acquitted in a court of law.

According to the transcript she was giving head. I don't know how that works if she's unconscious. Serious.

Don't see the irony.

Did Nate, a black man in America, not get justice by being acquitted?

It's additionally crazy seeing people like Osh post **** like this :

.

It's one thing to say you don't think it's a good idea to have "sex with drunk women" (which is patronizing and takes all agency away from women, but that's another story).....but to DIRECTLY correlate Nate's situation with the girls suicide is ABSURD. And I've been seeing a lot of this.

This is a girl that struggled most of her life, in and out of Foster homes...that's tried suicide before. Who knows what led her to that point. Especially 12 whole years later.

That's such a careless assumption based on no actual "FACTS". The "FACTS".

Y'all are painting the man as a sinister rapist based soley on allegations...that didn't hold up in the court of law. That's wrong. Imagine if dude is truly innocent...just for one second.

Mannnnn, no one saw this coming when he sold the movie to Fox? I didn't know it would be rape, but I knew it would be something.

It's crazy how bad this was handled man.

As it turns out you can't have sex with an unconscious woman who subsequently commits suicide and then releases a movie without having to answer for it.

Crazy that his co defendant was a co-writer on the film, and the film apparently got a rape scene in it,
and you that it ws going to be all good when you realeased it.? :wow: :smh:

It's clear whats about to happen.

-no oscar; no matter how good it is.
-no wide release
-nate parker won't be directing anything other than independent film if he's lucky

It's unfortunate it had to be this movie, but Nate Parker gotta take that L.

I gotta agree with you on all this.Today I read the WHOLE story and honestly I think the girl was lying or biter but Nate is finished and is gonna have to hold that L. Its kinda crazy he is gonna go from Oscar nod to hollywood burying him.

Im actually kind of disappointed man

It doesn't sound like Osh Kosh is trying to put the suicide on ole boy, it sounds like he is saying it makes the situation look worst.

Take a step back for a second: No matter if you believe him to be guilty or innocent, on paper it is a bad look. I don't think there is any denying that.

The irony is that on the one hand, some have zero faith in U.S. legal institutions; courts of law and the agents of the carceral state are seen as morally bankrupt. On the other hand, those same folks highlight the decision to acquit Nate Parker as confirmation of his innocence.

This is a really bad comparison, either stop trying to make it happen or relay it better. Y'all carry on though.

I disagree. You can still catch a charge even with "consent" because nobody was there to know what exactly was said or happened. Its crazy cuz this happened to my roommate at PSU too.

qhoops my writing was bad,

1. I did not mean to imply the it was a "fact" the idea that she commited suicide becuase of Nate's actions.

I'm saying that he had sex with a women under dubious circumstances and it looks very bad. and her suicide makes it looks worse, criticsm and dissection should be expected and is competently warranted.

2. Obviously women shouldn't have sex with drunk when either but

a. were talking about nate a man
b. women don't have the power over power drunk men into having sex. so avoiding a rape charge and not having sex with drunk women looms larger for man.

AGAIN

I did not paint him as a sinister anything, in fact i said the EXACT opposite.

I'm not out here saying Nate Parker is danger to the public,

I can totally believe that Nate was a young dude who was driking and didn't have and didn't really understand the importance of concent and then did something he shouldn't have.

and?

not having sex with a drunk women will dramatically reduce the chances of you catching a SA charge,

I don't understand how your "that one thing that happened to that one roommate" invalidates the value of this advice.

also women rarely report false rape charges.

This is a really bad comparison, either stop trying to make it happen or relay it better. Y'all carry on though.
It's not a comparison. The point is to highlight just a few of the many inconsistencies that people throw out to defend rapist, rape culture, and patriarchy more generally.

When did I say it invalidates anything? I said that this same thing happened to my roomie at PSU and yes woman do lie and report false claims. You'd have to be a fool to think that doesnt happen.

Whether shes intoxicated or not it can happen to anyone and you could just be on the wrong side and got caught up with the wrong female.Point Blank.

Dude who posted the testimony from the guy... How did you gather she was unconscious from that? The guy stated that the girl wasn't even drunk and on top of that said the room was dim and only lit with a small blue light. So he didn't see her move but it's not like he had a clear visual. But anyway dude said the girl wasn't drunk from what he saw, so how she end up unconscious? She left the living room went to mates room on her own and they heard and saw them having consensual sex... And then she ends up unconscious?? Huh??

With her legs up in the air and sucking ****..Exactly bro, ppl either not reading the full testimony or just deciding to take the bits and pieces that fit their narrative. Reading through all the "evidence", this doesn't fit the criteria for a sexual assault in any way. We see why he beat the case.

They dug til they found something. Being famous is a gift and a curse.
Yeah they dug pretty far huh

Again, the testimony is just HIS version of the events. It's not the indisputable word of god. Nobody should be using it as some sort of facts factory. It's not.
I never had a woman ask me who, what, when, where, and why after smashing. I didn't live college the right way I should've went to PSU.
