Air Jordan 11 Space Jam-December 10, 2016-$220

You ain't never lied @X-Alt. The 2001 1's had some of the best ankle support I ever witnessed in a shoe. They were one of the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever owned though.

I still have my '01 Black/Royal & White 1's for that very reason. The padding itself felt nice, but it was super thin, and felt like you were walking on concrete barefoot. No matter what shoe pads I put inside them, they still hurt like hell.

Yup @vintageog7. A question for those who own a pair. Are the 1's from 2013-present still like that? Are did they change the reinforced ankle, and add better padding? The '01 Black/Royal 1's, are the only 1's I was ever able to acquire. I tried for the 2013 Black/Royal's & the Black/Red's, but failed miserably.

I wouldn't say better padding because it almost didn't exist on 13 model... Imo the 00-01 were way more comfortable then the 13.. Padding Imo just wasn't there.

Damn, if the padding wasn't there on the 2013-presents, then it must've felt like walking barefoot on bricks...

2009 1's felt like the shoe was stepping on you, dunno about newer ones. They should just make it have the shell toe effect, where the rubber sole s stuffed with some cloth or whatever.

00's had the reinforced ankles like the 1's of the same era, OGs had super duper extra padding because hoopin. Both are good IMO.
If the 2000s had reinforced ankles then I can't even imagine how ridiculous they got with it on later releases. Never thought Id see the day when people praised the 2000 quality.

The OGs didn't have super duper padding, that's what the shoe is supposed to feel like. That's what needs to return. This is one of the best basketball shoes ever but not if they break it down to nothing like the holiday XIs. I wish ya'll knew.

people have been praising the 2000 quality for at least 10 years....

2000 was sufficient, but padding was cut down on. No denying that, but I wear thick socks anyways. They're basically the same besides that and the PL cut so I'd be happy with either.

Rubber was different too. The patent itself also changed. They knocked down the stability from a 10 to a 7 overall. There was a clear reduction in quality. I can't relate to the later Holiday 11s because I refuse to buy one with that ridiculous and unnecessary reverse jumpman but take it from someone who left off at the 2000s, it wasn't even close to the OGs. The whole 3 dimensional shape of the OG is whats up. You have to hold them and see them from all angles to understand how bad the reproductions were/are. I won't even mention the on court aspects. These things are eye candy to the fullest degree with the original design.

Ever since that 2000 pair Ive been waiting on Nike/Jordan to 'make them how they used to be' and every release is somehow worse than the one before. I don't know how they do it but they always find a way.
