"If I Was Black I'd Move To Atlanta and Live Like A King", Says Another New Yorker At Dive Bar

same here....i been here long enough to know it aint what visitors or folks who watch it on tv think it is.
i value the old atlanta before everyone and their mama came down here after the olympics.
Born and raised here. I'd say you had a better chance of making here it up to like 2004. But the Olympics were the beginning of the end.

no one like to talk bad about their city but i gotta be real....you can damn near look at folks and tell who they listen to/wanna be

Im curious to why he had to mention being black though.

So here's the thing: the guy probably didn't even say anything about wanting to be black. In fact, this anecdote-- purporting to be from experience--is likely fantasy.

I say this because I've noticed a certain script playing out in Nomad's anecdotes. In this script, if you pay attention, the bar is always a central element. It's the place where he frequently, if not always, encounters injustice and/or obstacles of some kind before triumphantly overcoming said obstacles. Dude just concocts these tales to incite unnecessary debate and because he stays thirsting for attention. It's actually quite sad yet funny at the same time...

I believe you, I have family in every major black city in the U.S., and its territories. Whenever I visit there's always the people you're describing.

So true. And it has gotten completely out of control.
thats my biggest beef with the city...too much followers and no respect for the leaders in this generation.....no respect period really......i think wholeheartedly once  x pills took off the city can never be what it was

That and this gang mess. These dudes are so lost here, it's sad :smh: .

So I was at a dive bar in the underbelly of Brooklyn a few weeks ago. My wife and I met some guy and he started up a deep conversation about getting out of New York if he could. We were talking about all the non-natives moving in and raising the rent prices for premiere neighborhoods close to Manhattan.

The guy was like "I wish I was black, I'd move to Atlanta and live like a king"

Is this true? I've only been to Atlanta in passing. Can you live like a king in ATL?

Any transplants from NY or LA that can share these major city amenities that someone would give up by moving to Atlanta?

Short answer NO.

Atlanta is so superficial.  Everybody pretending to be more than what they are...

Once my daughter gets to high school, I'm out.

yep...middle school is where the mess rwally begins. But definitely high school is time to think about getting ghost

Whole thing sounds like a complete lie. I see the bait though.

*waits for thread to devolve in to the predictable*

and any others from ATL, thanks for contributing and demonstrating the power of positive online community.
I have family and friends who really want me to come visit. I'm down for mini-summit, maybe at a bar, ball court, or something.

I'll post pics in this thread too. Guarantee these faceless "anonymous" haters will still find a way to pick a constructive thread apart because they themselves have nothing to offer to Niketalk. No lives, no life experience, no friends, no family, no cultured social circles... it's crazy. I could post my whole week on Niketalk with pics and videos, but I'm not a petty person who REALLY needs the approval, especially from certain people on here. Because we know it wouldn't end there, look how you cats treat more famous users like Ben Baller, hell Wale. People actually making moves in life and trying to share with people they thought were like minded. I debate with @ksteezy  a lot, but I respect him. However, you faceless usernames always lurking in the cut with something petty to say. Crazy part is you don't even realize we sense how detached you are from reality by some of your accusations. Some of y'all be in your late 20's and older too

. Haters mad at life, and angry you have nothing of value to add to a conversation.

Trying to discredit me because you can't believe how garbage your own life actually is and I don't even be sharing nothing heavy on here.

Who are you talking to? This thread has been pretty tame.

Born and raised here. I'd say you had a better chance of making here it up to like 2004. But the Olympics were the beginning of the end.

Born n rasied in the metro area. I agree with all of you. I left for college in '05 and was only back for holidays n summer break. When school was over i made the move.

I was watching gangland months back n they were talkin bout the A and how that first boom brought all kinds of wealth but also trouble. This was before my time but i could related with that constant growth after the Olympics came n went.

Dont get me wrong i love my home. But theres also other options out there to "flourish"

For the record I lived in the Atlanta area for eight years and went to college out there.

What does it matter if you're in your late 20's or older?

That has nothing to do with NT or the means of this online community.

22 btw.

I certainly didnt care for them when i was in HS and that rich kid BS they tried pullin ... i grew up out of that tho
