Rigged in sports?

Its hard for me to understand how an NBA game would be rigged. Thru the ref's? ok maybe.. Im not denying what so ever.. it just seems like too much momentum to be able to control like that

Ghost calls and 'missing' fouls, mainly.

I've noticed a LOT of bogus travel calls lately, mainly on first step out of a triple-threat position. What's very fishy about it is they never show a replay. I always see it at least once a game. I remember seeing draymond day "that's not a travel" after they called it on him once.

It's all to control point spreads, I think, and it's determined by how much is bet on a certain team. A team can still beat the odds, but it's basically the same as hitting at the casino.

hey man... the power of money. You just never know these days. Nothing really surprises me anymore

Which 06 Finals are yall talking about when you say it's rigged? What sport?
NBA.

People complain about Wade getting all the calls

I would argue they don't call enough traveling.

As a Laker fan I can certainly say and we can all agree that game 6 of the 2002 WCF was rigged. The Queens lost fair in game 7 tho

That game 5 of the Lakers Kings series where the Lakers literally had that game stolen from them in the final minute had me questioning things for a minute.

All the phantom fouls they called on Shaq, Chris Webber literally throwing Derek Fisher out the way like he was a rag doll for Mike Bibby to be wide open on his game winning shot, and them not calling a foul on Kobes last shot when it was blatantly obvious he was fouled. I've never seen poor questionable officiating potentially impact a game/series like I did that night.

Lets not talk Lakers now...

They basically gave them the next game go. Watch the footage.

'01 Finals, now 76ers didn't have it in that series. But no calls on Shaq basically doing whatever he wanted elbows and all.

'90 Finals Sending Kareem to the line when there was no foul against the Bad Boy Pistons.

So much more, but when you're on top you get the calls and it makes sense to make $$$$

I'll give them game 6. Sacramento fans would have a valid gripe and I can't knock them for it although they do tend to exaggerate the free throw differential and overlook the fact a decent portion of it was them intentionally fouling the lakers which led to that disparity.

As good as that Sacramento team was though, it's my personal belief if the game 5 shenanigans never happen, game 6 is nothing but a footnote in a 4-2 Lakers series win. That team knew how to close opponents out.

A real easy way is to get the star player in foul trouble.
It would work on both ends of the floor .

nah, it's just as corrupt as boxing. would not be surprised if some of these knockouts, were just guys taking a dive. there's too much money and greedy folks involved in the fight gm. still fun to watch.
it may not always be so obvious, but like many have said, guys can be influenced for the right amount. not always about wins/losses
name some examples then... cause i REALLY watch this ****.

Depends by what you mean by rigged. There have been players, refs/officials, and other ppl in the business arrested for fixing games but if you mean before a season starts the champion is chosen and the whole thing is rigged, highly unlikely.

I think it's more of the case that leagues get an idea of who is it's going to come down to (the favorites) and then they form a strong narrative to sell so that even more ppl can support them.
I wholeheartedly agree with this.

I heard the UFC is rigged. I heard Anderson Silva was in on this rig when he lost to Chris Weidman on UFC 168

LOL

Tyson had a few.

we talking ufc pimp.. he already said conor mcgregor could move up to hw and do damage so i'm iffy on any statements he makes mma-wise from here on out.

Talked to one of the Statisticians who makes the lines in vegas and has been a sports better all his life.

Fixes do occur but are pretty rare and involve a LOT of cash. Some people who make the lines use proxies to bet since they aren't allowed.

I knew for a fact after Samakis buzzer beat at the half in game 3 was counted, that whole series was in favor of the Lakers  Ball was still resting on dudes palm w/ 0:00 on the clock

They implemented instant replay the following season as a result of that and a few other buzzer beaters during that playoffs. Human error is a part of sports though. Instant replay is in other sports and isn't well received at times.

Samaki Walkers 3 shouldn't have counted, but when you're up 24 points in the second quarter of a game that could potentially put you up 3 games to 1 with 2 of the final 3 on your home court, and you proceeded to get out scored by 25 the rest of the game, you deserve to lose.

That Sacramento team was mentally weak though. That said, they got a bad break the following season when Webber got hurt against the Mavs in the second round. A Kings Spurs WCF would've been interesting that season.

nba officiating tonight was crazy weird.
think vegas won big with w's winning and gm going under. the inconsistency in the foul calling from first half to second half
