Looks like the mic drops will be around for the disco

Going to see if my local mall has any version I can try on and see how they fit me. (doubt they carry them)  Id have just placed an order now if I knew if they fit right. Sucks living in a small shoe market.
 
Me too, but might cop an id while we wait. I want the black n purples but not sure if and when they drop
 
Wow, I can't believe NT saved my non-submitted post from waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back on like page 9 or whatever. That's crazy....

These were my initial thoughts:

- These go hard. The hood is gonna eat these up. :lol:

- The KD6 took off to another level once the orange joints hit NYC. Knick fans, Mets fans, and Syracuse fans could all rock them to match with team gear. Even if you weren't a fan of any of those teams, that color way in particular still broke necks.

- The 7s were nice too. But my biggest complaint was the lack of traditional color ways. The best color way was the first one which was the USA and those flew off shelves. After that, most of the 7s could be caught at a discount. Plus as ninjahood alluded to, KD getting injured may have also hurt sales.

- Finally, I gotta agree with the people who are commenting on KD flip flopping in regards to the cost. He initially was proud to have sneakers out at an affordable price.

Kevin Durant never had the latest and most expensive shoes when he was growing up.

And he's hasn't forgotten that about what that was like.

Durant remembers having three pairs of shoes when he was a teenager and having one pair that he wore all around Seat Pleasant, Md.

"We couldn't afford the Pennys, the Pippens, the Jordans," Durant told The Oklahoman on Thursday. "I had one pair of Team Jordan's, and I wore them everywhere. I hooped in them, played football in them. I had some Shaqs from K-Mart and a pair of Tim Duncans. But I couldn't get a bunch of different ones like I wanted."

Durant's memory of not being able to have the shoes he wanted had a big impact when it came time to price his own line of shoes.

While NBA stars like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James have shoe lines that cost around $150, Durant offers his Nike KD line at $88. His shoe has become one of the most popular on the market.

"If they were $125 I wasn't getting them, but $88, that's reasonable," Durant said. "Plus, I had a brother, too, so my mom wasn't paying $120 for two pairs of shoes. I put them at $88 and a lot of people have been buying them and that's what it's been like for the last couple years."

Nike has always been Durant's favorite brand and he told himself if he ever played basketball collegiately or even the NBA he was going to wear the swoosh.

After entering the draft after his freshman season at Texas, Nike approached Durant with a shoe deal but adidas also came into play.

"I always wanted to be a part of (the Nike) family but I had to take a look at adidas as well because they had some good stuff for me," Durant said. "But I thought Nike was a better company for keeping my feet intact and having the brand. I wasn't really big on brands, but I wanted something people would like."

Durant ultimately decided on Nike because they offered him his own shoe with more to come in the future.

And more have arrived with the KD IIIs being his most recent installment. Nike has created 15 different color schemes with the shoe, including a scoring title scheme that he donned during the Western Conference Finals against Dallas.

"I had the scoring title shoes last year, but I couldn't wear them because our team doesn't like solid blue or solid orange shoes," Durant said. "This year, they made them black so I could wear them and it had my teammate's names all throughout the shoe. Once I put them on they molded to my foot. Probably the best ones I ever had, they were crazy."

So what's next for Kevin Durant and Nike?

The KD IV, that fans could possibly see later this year, though Durant wouldn't give away any secrets on the shoe. He did say it would feature Nike's Zoom Air cushioning, an adjustable midfoot lockdown strap and a Thunderbolt traction pattern. It will also remain a low top.

"I told Nike to make a foamposite pair of the KD IV," Durant said. "Hopefully people in DC will pick them up and support me. They always do that anyway but I'm sure if I throw some foams out there they will do it even more."

I ordered two pairs of the KD9. Mic Drops and the Preheat. I got the Preheats a week ago and the Mic Drops today. Was actually going to sell the Preheat for slightly over retail but returned my Mic Drops instantly. I love the two tone look, but it's too much black for one. Two, the swoosh is a matte finish that will most likely chip poorly. Three, the laces on the Preheats are premium rope laces and the Mic Drops are just basic. I'm actually just using these for basketball and will probably regret my decision because I'll be mad when some jerk steps on my shoes, but I don't like that they've reduced the quality from one to the other. I guess that's why it's limited. Anyone else get both?

Great insight. I haven't been on top of sneakers as I used to so I probably would have never known about those subtle differences you mentioned.

I really like the 9. Everybody lobes the 95$ KD 4 but they were so darn uncomfortable. Sprained my ankle twice in the Nerfs.
 
looks wise the KD 4 are the best looking KDs to come out but I really don't playing ball in them, super snug and so uncomfortable to play in

I think the 4's are the best silhouette but like you guys said, very uncomfortable.  KD's line has been hit or miss on sigs like another person in this thread said.  5's were one of the most comfortable hoop shoes I've played in but the design wasn't appealing.  I liked the 7 but they had fit issues and I really loved the 8 comfort wise but like everyone else feels, they don't have an off the court appeal.  It's not the most flattering silhouette (I do still love them and still hoop in mine).  The 9 looks like they finally got it right.

if that's the case give them to me for retail, I won't sprain my ankle in them :lol:
 
Went a half size down coz there was no 11 left. Lengthwise, its as long as my sz 11s but damn I shouldve worn socks when I fitted the shoe. Hurts my instep with Versatility socks; hopefully it stretches and breaks in.
 
Yep the different sock length in these are real, with regular ankle socks I have more room in the toe area but with elite socks I get a more snug feel in these.  Either way I am going to stay tts in these.
