same way we always hear about when shoes are going to come out or rumored to. Not trying to be a smartass either sorry if its coming across that but sneaker blogs do a lot of the marketing and hyping up for nike and hell other brands. 

and KD also wore them so that generated a good amount of talk about them enough to get blogs chatting about it. They put the release date out there 

i kinda liked it this way but at the same time not that much cuz it was a PITA trying to find it on like 4 sites so yeah it sucked
 
i cant believe nike is doing a raffle for these but i think all you guys will win cant be that limited

i entered as well and went .5 up on these all the kds fit snug on me i think this model will be the same heres hoping
 
This is definitely one of the most low-key launches I've ever seen.

Sneaker sites and NT knew what was going on, so it wasn't a total surprise, but it's definitely weird how little hype Nike tried to drum up for these. Maybe they just wanted to take things slow after the pathetic display of the 8.
 
OP: not sure about other sites, but SNKRS has the USA (aka 'Premiere') slated for 7/1 and the Black/White (aka "Mic Drop") for 7/9.

that wtk8 released already it was on one of the footsites when i was just browsing the other day
