So I just sold a pair of 2016 metallic 5s size 12.. printed out a shipping label and it said 4 pounds. The sneakers themselves are practically 4 pounds. After I boxed it up and brought it to USPS for a receipt the guy said I owed an additional $18... WTF.. do I have a case for making GOAT reimburse me?

something very similar happened to me. I think mine was 4 lbs on the label too, took it to USPS and got a receipt for proof I dropped them off in case anything happened. the lady weighed the box and said I was .9 oz over..... POINT 9 ounces...so not even 1 oz over. she said that bumped my shipping up into the next class so I would have to pay an additional $4 or something like that. I didn't have my wallet on me so I asked her what my options were. she said she could put a notice on it so that when the receiver got the package they would have to pay it. in my opinion it's goat's fault so I said that was fine with me. goat received it and must have paid it because they never said anything to me about it
$18 extra though, that's crazy. do you know how much it weighed when they checked it?
I would email goat and try to get a reimbursement. you're already paying them a bunch in fees, you shouldn't have to pay for a shipping charge as well when they advertise free shipping. I feel like this is goat's fault for not knowing how much the shoes weigh
unless you went and added way too much tape and crap for cushioning

I think next time I'm just gonna drop my box off at the counter without a receipt. no way they're weighing every single one of those boxes before they put them on the truck
i usually do this, but this was egregious and most likely wasn't going to get through. the final weight was 4 pounds 14 oz. and I literally just boxed it in the box it came from the store which fit almost perfectly, so I tried to keep it as light as possible. I didn't realize there was an option to have the receiver pay the difference. Wish I knew that haha.
What is annoying to me is that GOAT essentially low balls the weight to get it as cheap as possible for them but then these issues arise where I have to pay out of pocket. Isn't the first time I've heard this happen to. Wish I knew what the result was of those transactions.

that or if you still want a receipt just tell them you don't have any money on you when they try to charge you. they should offer to add a note to the package so the receiver will have to pay the extra if they want the package
the lady told me if they see that a dropped off package is way over the weight that's on the shipping label, sometimes they'll send it back to the return address instead of shipping it. I really doubt that happens too often though

no, they're pretty much saying that his pair from a store can't be sold, just because. so they're JB QC now? ish is wack, bthat's ****** dumb. if that's the case, all JB retros are bgrades. they can't claim something is ****** bgrades when Nike didn't mark it as such
It's dumb, but it lets you know they are thorough.

yeah they're just trying to save money. I don't think any seller should have to pay extra out of their own pocket unless they add a bunch of unnecessary crap to the package that ups the weight
I've had multiple packages returned to me when I used to sell through ebay. My post office must have a package nazi because if I'm off by a little bit it gets returned to me, which is why I'm extra careful. Anyway, next time I'm just going to drop it off on the counter and see what happens.

I get what you're saying, and yea it's wack, but that kinda thoroughness will make it harder for fakes to get through because they're really inspecting every detail.

Got another reply from GOAT. I gave them my NT, Grailed, eBay, and Twitter handle but they said that they are only looking for experienced sellers at this time. Most of my selling is done in Canada via private Facebook groups so it's hard to monitor.
ALTHOUGH, they told me to send them tagged pics of 4-5 shoes I plan on selling on GOAT to get approved, so I'll be doing that now.

It happened to me, but I dropped it off at the main hub where they are strict.
I printed out a label and was like a 1lb off and next day it was on my porch with black permanent marker with exact weight on the box so I couldn't lie if I tried to resend it
Most places if you drop it off they don't give a **** but if you take it to the counter and they read the label and package looks way too big for the weight listed they will check it and charge you

just drop them off at a local Staples; they don't really say nothing and just scan the box; the method of using a Medium Flat Rate Box to fit a sneaker by changing the shape of the box is frond upon when you drop it off at USPS and might not accept it but if you drop it off at staples they don't say anything.

1lb off is a lot to them. It's like $4 difference..
But I asked GOAT this before and they claim to say just message them when the time comes and they can reprint the label. So I'm assuming if you send it off they will just pay the difference.

It's in the FAQ but given their response history, I'm sure it's a pain/burden especially time sensitive handling. I haven't had a problem yet, but i can sense it coming. I'm sure I'll be receiving an email regarding a certain pair I sold.

I shipped a penny pack the other day. Didn't have a box so I made my own. I completely wrapped the pack up in bubble wrap. Then made a cardboard box around it. Taped the corners up a ton. Made sure all the edges were taped down and nothing would come undone. Label said 10 pounds. I know it wasn't. Just dropped it off at the USPS counter and walked away. In my opinion it's on Goat to figure their shipping weight and on them to cover any additional charge. I dropped it off last Thursday or Friday and it hasn't showed up at my door step yet so I assume it's enroute to Goat.
to end the issue - GOAT responded to me and said that because they have a business account, next time just tell them to bill the receiver. So if this happens to anybody moving forward please note you can do this and there won't be any issues. Won't want to see anybody repeat my mistake.
