Muhammed Ali... has passed.

I always look at pop culture references when things like this happen. I thought it was genius the way Eddie wrote this scene to have his Jewish character defend the champs Muslim name.

Damn, so sad he suffered from Parkinson's for 32 years yet his personality, intelligence, humor, & wit continued to show.

One of my favorite candid pics of the champ... Such a powerful image in black & white of a man in prayer.

Rest in peace GOAT of boxing.
He was not only a great boxer but also contributing for civil rights. Back in the Gulf war it was him to persuade Saddam Hussein to release some PoWs.

3 years of his PRIME lost with his refusal to the war. Incredible, his absolute prime

I look forward to informing my son about Ali. He's one you go back and teach about

Still can't believe he's gone. Surreal to think we live in a world w/o Ali.

R.I.P. to the G.O.A.T.

I was talking to some relatives about Ali's passing & his legacy. One of my relatives said he thought Ali transcended race... Although he definately transcended sports, I don't think he transcended race though because he was uniquely black & a shining example of the back experience here in the states & in th world at a time when there was legal descrimination in the country & in the world.

He was proud to be black & muslim & was very rightfully defiant to whoever he thought was opposed to his ideals..

Someone posted in the Ali general thread saying he wasn't worthy of the adulation due to several misgivings especially in his early years but the one has to remember that Ali is human & liek the rest of us he's made numerous mistakes but that doesn't take away from his impact on sports, society, & culture.

 at his personal assault on Liston while he was inticing him to fight even though Liston loaned him money previously... Straight wrong but so comincal.... I often wondered if that was all manufactured to create drama for fights... Same thing with Ali vs Frazier.

He was cruel to Frazier...to a fault really and it is a blemish on his life IMO. But we all have regrets and mistakes
