The Official Nike LeBron 14 Thread. Retail $175

all thereason I feel like Nike should restock or something..what the French toast man?! Everything else is literally a consolation prize. I can't see any colorway being better than the OONW....but prove me wrong Nike.

Sidebar, I wonder if there will be an Elite version of this shoe, with actual releases just getting underway and the playoffs not that far away, will he ride this model through the post season or what? That would be a pretty short lifespan for an LBJ shoe. KD's Elites (look awful) seem primed with him wearing them a few times...it will be interesting to see how Nike handles the playoffs with the XIV..
Sadly I don't think there is going to be another release of the OONW's...it's really to bad.  I got a pair and I still think it's ridiculously messed up that they didn't do a general release of them.  A restock is possible though, you never know.

I'm curious about an elite version also, but seems like with the redesign and production delays we could possibly miss out on ID's and an Elite version.  Or the Elite comes real late, like halfway through the playoffs.  Definitely will be interesting to see how it plays out.  I hope we get both, an elite could be good.

Ok before everyone goes in hard on you, I'll agree that the first colourway wasn't exactly the best but it did a good job of showcasing the shoe's design elements.

In any case, there's potential for about 3-4 more colourways till the end of the season. Hopefully there'll be something better.
I think you are right about the OONW's showcasing the design elements the best, the details and colors on that pair make a relatively simple shoe stand out.  I wasn't in love with them when we first saw them, but as the other colorways have popped up, they really look more complete than the black ice/BHM/red pairs.

Hopefully a good colorway is still up Nike's sleeve.

I hope they dont do an elite 14. These right here are just fine. I think they shouldve stopped doing the Elites especially after last year's sudden price reduction out the gate.

Qft. Elites for the most part were just a gimmick to begin with.

lebron should just debut the soldier XI sometime in the playoffs

I would do that. I would Have Tristan Thompson wear them. Especially now that he is with a Kardashian. More exposure.

I like how TT rocks the Soldier line in PE's whereas, 'Bron rocks his sig line. His yellow toe X's should drop.

Huh? A Kardashian dating an NBA player, isn't making me check for a players kicks more than I normally would.

Nobody really outside of the basketball world knew who TT was until he started dating Khloe. hence why I said more exposure for himself and his brand.

the all red/OSU still dropping on the 4th still?

I just don't feel it has anything to do with anything, same as the black ice. All it is is a black/white colorway. there's no story behind it. if you get what i mean

I hear you with the clear lack of a theme or design inspiration but at the end of the day this is the XIV we're presented with. I do also agree with you that the design or colourblocking team should spend more than 5 minutes to come up with colourways to showcase this shoe, however sales numbers for the previous models are more than likely dictating colourways and quantities.

Why does a shoe's colorway need to have a story behind it, imo let the colorway create the story not the other way around.

Nobody outside the basketball world knew who Lamar Odom was until he was found brain dead at a bunny ranch in the desert. Kardashians don't have the best effect on the mental health of their SOs

Was he talking about the story behind the design or the colourway? Design inspiration's always interesting but colourway stories are straight gimmick trash.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seemed like after the South Beach 8 release Nike really started going heavy on the nicknames

I do like the story behind each model though

When Nike first started doing the nicknames, they made sense. With the South Beaches, the blue and pink represented the vibrant colors of Miami and the connection made sense. Then Nike just came up with BS because they thought the story would sell.

Ex: the Green Glow Kyrie 1's: "A young Kyrie would spend hours practicing outside on his driveway. Once it got dark his father would park his car at the end of the driveway and flash his brights so that his son could get in another hour before dinner. This driveway inspired shoe features an all black upper, reflective silver swoosh and green glow detailing."

Try explaining that to your friend and he'll look at you like

But this doesn't translate well into Nike's shoe marketing koolaid which is an afterthought at best.

he is an artist first

pictures tell a story or the artist wants you to believe there is meaning behind everything they do

it's not a shoe to him

each design is a work of art not a product

it's his mona lisa or Starry night

I think you are confusing the actual design aspects of the shoe from the designer's point of view, with some of the modern Nike marketing BS they are putting out just to sell a shoe (i.e. story names like OONW and Chase Down imo are non-sense, as their real model colorway models are Christmas and Black Ice).

I would rather they just stick with authentic design backstories like this than some made up trash from the marketing dept.
