Help with Jordan 3 restoration

So I want to restore my white cement 3s and I need to remove the midsole paint and it just doesn't come off. So far I've only tried the hot water and scratching it off( I don't really wanna go out and buy so paint stripper) and it just doesn't come off. I've watched videos and for people it comes off so easy but for me it looks like the midsole is gonna rip. Please give me some tips on how to remove the paint I really don't want to use acetone either. Thanks for any help
