Paul George is not in a major market nor plays many national games.
He doesn't really have an exciting game nor puts up huge numbers
Add in the fact that they're quite a few players as good as him or better without shoe deals and that's were the shock that he a sig from Nike

This is an interesting topic, though. I didn't get into basketball until the last few years, and the only players I really knew were LeBron, Kobe, KD, Kyrie, and Wade (I think I knew about John Wall because I go to D.C. a lot)

let the morons be morons. Yup, he totally has a boring and average game and no ones ever heard of him. Yup, I'd totally rather buy a Giannis or Jimmy Butler shoe. Those guys have definitely had sustained success and led teams deep in the playoffs.

Surprised no one has mentioned that PG is on the cover of NBA2K. I think he's probably the best player without a sig up until now. By best player I mean the star of your team in a 7 game series. IT might be right after but it's gonna take some time.
Personally I think PG is better in that role than Kyrie. Kyrie by himself is John Wall; very good but not quite great.

yup. so much recency bias with NBA fans. they're so quick to proclaim these new dudes as superstars like Giannis, Butler, IT, etc etc, and they've apparently "leapfrogged" PG...
but in reality they've never had close to the success Paul has had. there's a lot of good young players, but can we wait and see if they can sustain success over several years, please? Unlike a lot of other dudes, PG has been great for almost 5 straight years now, been the best players on multiple teams that have gone to the conference finals, multi All Star/All nba/All defense...... enough with this "he doesn't deserve it" and "no one knows who he is" BS. rant over.
