Ageed, royals are a cult classic that just happened to jump on the hype train because of the limited 2013 release. If you asked any of these kids about Royal 1's before 2013 - I don't even 1/10 would have a WORD to say on them. If Royals released with the same numbers the 2013 Breds did, The resell would be half what it is now. Same deal with Shadows, I ordered the shadows for retail off Nike, along with the Toro 4 because they released the same day. They were easy to get, available in stores and slept on - Now you are lucky to even find a DS pair for a decent price.
I'll always say it - 2009 was the year marked "death of the sneaker collector" - and over night everybody became a "sneakerhead." Not a coincidence that's the year the Yeezy 1 released.
Even if these did number up to 700k - they would still be a release day sell out, and eBay would have 685,000 listings for $500 Royals 1's.
These will not be obtained easily, regardless of release numbers.

I got a ds extra banned loaded for trade if I strike out.. I may toss 50 extra on top but if anybody tries to argue royals are more sought after than the true OG black and red color they are wrong....prolly set a fire but that's just how I feel

Still rock my CDP carmines idgaf about hype. I remember this dude tried to buy them off my feet a couple of years ago for $400 lmao. I passed because I wasn't tryna walk home in only socks during an hour commute in NYC.

There are a million pairs of different "bred" 1s that nobody outside this forum can tell apart, I still love them to death.

Space Jam release too. Hype has always been there, but the market took off from there that year.
Probably not popular, but resale prices definitely dropped after the newer retros. Same for the Carmines too.
Don't care for Aquas/Grapes too much either.

Agreed - I've seen more fake royals than I have legit ones on people's feet. So easily noticed with that super sloped toe box and plastic-ish leather. Met up with a kid at my local mall who tried to sell me a GM pair for $350 - he refused to acknowledge they were fake even when I showed him comparison photos. I did it as politely and diplomatically as possible as not to be disrespectful.
Regarldess, this release will be good for everyone that truly wants and appreciates the shoe. 2013 resell prices will drop, and the faithful have a shot of doubling or tripling up. I'm debating pulling the trigger on a VNDS 2013 GOAT pair before the April release and doing a preorder from KC if the price isn't absurd.

Just look on LetGo. Always see pairs there. I've seen a VNDS pair for like 230 so don't spend all that $$

No Royals yet, there was a size 7 banned 1 for $350.

I got my Royals from Letgo. DS size 10 for $700. I offered $300 and he took it haha, was scared they were gonna be fake but you guys at NT helped me out
Only time you should be suspicious is if they don't wanna meet at a police station but honestly it should be pretty easy to spot Fake J's by now

They will most likely go to the draw due to the hype, in 2014, year after the 13' retro they were still at 400ish on ebay, couldnt pull the trigger back then; most people struck out with the breds (was 1/3 on the draw)
repped, best case scenario cop a pair for retail and flip it to make the difference of the pre-order pair; do they cancel pre-orders?

You know there's gotta be a lot of folks getting tired of the ultra limited crap. I barely got A pair of B/Red each time, but no Royals. They should make up for that '13 Royal release.. bad enough they were limited, but then they shorted the US on pairs.
And that OVO 12 release left me real bitter, only 3 cities in the US?
It's one thing to build hype by limiting sneakers.. but making them impossible to get at retail is a good way to start losing customers.
