Conte is everything they thought Pep was going to be. This just isn't Peps year, and it's a good humbling experience for him.

And It's not even about the strength of the league that's hurting him. Pep has dominated Spain and he champions league. It's about his unwillingness to adapt to English football and not try to have English football adapt to him. Real, Atletico, Athletic, and Sevilla are all good teams that he's dealt with. So United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool are no different in terms of obstacles for him.

They're just completely different teams in a different league with a different mindset. You have to adapt first, then innovate.

The issue isn't with the top English teams you mentioned, it's with 6-20. Those are the teams that are most likely to employ hoof ball and "negative" tactics.

I think his style could work in the league but he needs top top players to implement it. Citeh isn't close to what his Bayern and Barca teams were, he'll continue to struggle unless he adapts or brings in the right players for his system. He's dealing with the same issues LVG did.

I think the strength of the league also has a part to play in it. The money in the league allows for 6-20 to be more competitive than other leagues.

True true.

But top players aren't going to come if Chelsea and United are still dominating and got just as much money to lure players. This isn't the "Pep and co" show. Its the prem. Everyone got them bands.

Adapt first, then do whatever you want. Its proved to work well for Chelsea. Conte adapted, then implemented. Got them defending like an italian wall, but first after sorting it out. Not just going in with "This worked at Juve, it'll work here with time". Get them results first.

You obviously don't have what you need to play the style you want. Its making you look like a one trick pony. Even Jose had to go back to the drawing board to turn United around. Despite his world class bus parking trophy winning history. You have to adapt. In any sport.

You can't finish 6-7th because you didn't have they players you wanted. Thats no excuse. His side is more than formidable.

Anyone can flop. You can go from being the best manager in the world, to EPL outcast.

Jose went from the special one to 10th place and sacked by christmas.

Again he has tried to adapt to the squad all season constantly switching the team to see what works best and has used several formations to see what works best. He has been trying to adapt its not clicking because of some of the players in the squad.

If he was just playing one formation same line-up then I would say he hasn't been trying different things and being a one trick pony but that hasn't been the case

I think adapting is still somewhat new to him. He never needed to adapt in Barcelona because the squad was miles ahead of any competition and perfectly suited (as well as used to) his idea of football. He had bigger problems with Bayern but they were still much stronger than most of the other Bundesliga teams so they won the league easily. Also, the mindset of most of the smaller teams was to treat a 0-2 as a small victory so many let Bayern have the ball as long as they didn't get slaughtered. The league domination somewhat clouded the fact that Pep's Bayern wasn't able to compete with international top squads so he wasn't forced to adapt.

Now he is working in a league where football is still very much defined by physicality, speed and putting up a fight. Also, there's other teams on City's level in the league which win consistently so he can't afford losing too many points. I think he's shown signs of his ability to adapt but he's not quite ready to accept that his vision of ideal football might not be ideally suited for the BPL. If he truly manages to incorporate other playing styles, he'll easily turn City into a serious title contender in both BPL and CL.

I think he will be just fine. He has said in many interviews that he does not think his way of playing football is the best and only way compared to others. He want's to learn from the EPL and adapt to it not try to change it or prove he is better.
You would think City would be able to call up some fullbacks from their system
The two best options we had in Angelino and Maffeo are currently on loan to Girona.

He can change formations all he wants. If he's not changing the way in which the team plays, then he's not really adapting.

I think Aguero might need to leave and definitely some new blood in midfield and at fullback. Toure can't be DM.

i think it's simply city's defense is terrible. the quality from the back 4 to the midfield is a stark contrast.

city are a great team to watch and they will be fine.

if you remember the chelsea game they were up 1-0 and were the better team before KDB missed an absolute tap in and the rest is history.

He has tried different tactics all season long. we have tried attacking with width, focusing the attack through the middle of the pitch, tucking in the fullbacks, have them come down the wings for support, 3 at the back etc. He has been trying to adapt at certain point which is the point City is at it is just some of the players.

How else would you want him to change the way the team plays do you mean playing out the back? Cause as I pointed out earlier Chelsea, Spurs and especially Liverpool all play out the back and are doing just fine.

Aguero will probably be around for two more years at the most I suspect. I think Nacho and Jesus will be enough at striker in the future. And I agree about the new blood in midfield cause with Fernandinho missing games, Gundam Wing done for the season and Yaya even though he is playing better than expected again Delph and Fernando are not good enough.

Interesting. I know in Spain total goal difference doesn't matter so that's why those small teams still play after going down a goal or 2. In England, he has to deal with clubs shutting down after 1 goal and trying to gain a point via smash and grab.

You would know better than I on the tactics to be fair and I do remember him using his fullbacks at the beginning of the season like he did at Bayern.

Liverpool showed that they can play in a different way, they did it against us and against another big team that I can't remember at the moment.

Playing out the back is fine, if you have players that have the ball skills and composure to do it. If your team is having issues with doing it, what's wrong with hoofing it upfield?

I feel like Aguero doesn't press enough for Pep. I also feel like that team doesn't have any fight. Needs to clean house.

Interesting. I don't know they can be demoted

Pep hasn't adapted at all. He even said he rather lose playing his way over winning playing boring footy

You haven't seen his recent interviews plus he has never described other ways to play football as boring football. What he did say is he didn't want to change his overall philosophy he said that in response early on when people where asking why the need to play out the back which I don't mind he shouldn't have backed down on that. But I've watched every game and noticed all the changes he has tried he has been trying to adapt to the league

i feel you im just pointing out he has done quite a few changes to try to get the team he has now to play better. Most notciable in the 3-1 win against Barcelona. Ever just lost a god number of games because of defensive game lapses in most of our losses minus leciester and Everton the team played good football. Otamendi and Stones are fine playing out the back it's just when the ball gets to the fullbacks we have know it's limited. I don't mind him not resorting to hoofing the ball when it's not necessary there are enough players good with their feet where we don't need to.

And you're right aguero doesn't press enough he has tried more but it's just not him. I think it's the main reason we pressed for Jesus so hard and got him. He pressed and helps defend from the front as a striker which Pep loves.

@NatsAbroad Joe Gyau officially unveiled by SG Sonnenhof who have agreed to a 1.5 year deal with the Maryland-native.

@SoccerByIves Dom Dwyer says he'll be eligible for U.S. citizenship next month, & his paperwork is ready to be filed. A possible #USMNT Gold Cup option?

Is Pique really leaving Barca?

Edit-

Juve are trying to trade and sign Alexis for Pjanic

Alexis - Dybala - Cuadrado

Thats a problem
