Riots in Milwaukee after Officer Involved Shooting

the minute we start parsing through and deciding who was "justified" and who wasnt we've already lost

Lot of good points being made in here but I feel no way about incidents like the riots. You can't antagonize a group of ppl for centuries & expect them to be rational at every turn. Ppl are fed up and whatever comes to the catalyst (white america) is on them

Nowadays folks are just looking for any reason to protest and act a fool. This individual and the particular circumstances surrounding his death is not worth anyone's time or effort. WE gotta stop supporting stupidity in our community.

Serious question...

Why, as black people, do we have to be reasonable and logical in times like this?

Most of middle America will denigrate black people when things like this, justified or not. They jump to conclusions faster than an Usain Bolt 100m dash.

Middle America is never asked to be reasonable... But black people are. Black people have to hold the burden of being logical.

Ish cray

Because being unreasonable makes it easier to delegitimize and dismantle a group that advocates for minority grievances.
People of all races and creeds, whether they are Americans or foreigners (long or short term visitors) recognize the problem of policing that exists in America. They recognize that BLM has a reason to exist. However, every instance of BLM defending known criminals just because of their race undermines the movement's purpose.

The unfortunate reality of policing in the USA is that there is a gun in circulation for every person living here; if the people want to keep the power to kill, the police needs to have that same power in order to effectively enforce laws. Instead of supporting every black person that is killed by the police (no matter what they did), BLM would gain many more hearts and minds if they defended legitimate victims of police abuse, no matter what they look like.

But what if that's exactly what they want?

Excellent response, but I wholeheartedly disagree with this.

I feel you on everything else doe

Yeah, that's just wrong as hell  if that was the case there wouldn't be soooooooooo many people talking about Black on Black crime (even in this very thread  ) and other misdirections.

Agree wholeheartedly

I've expressed the same feelings on this forum. Still, it's important to realize and to tell others what the pursuit of justice through violence ultimately leads to. It's the story of many armed rebellions throughout history. I'm not sure that the majority of Black Americans are ready to write that chapter.

Personally, I think there's no need to do that to solve the issue of policing because we are all affected by it (yesterday I read about a white dude who was threatened to be killed in front of his daughter by a Arizona Highway Patrol officer during a traffic stop). BLM marches and protests are attended by people of all ethnicities and they have supporters coming from all places. Let's build on that.

once we start judging who's worthy and whos not we have divided ourselves to be conquered

LOL. You keep thinking that champ. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Folks nowadays want to somehow justify wrong or make it seem like doing wrong is okay....which it is not. At the end of the day this ***** had it coming, simple as that. You can't just commit a crime and expect for there not to be any consequences. If he didn't know that beforehand he and his family certainly know now.

In your avy, have you ever noticed Hov doesn't press a floor button when he gets on the elevator?

Yes indeed champ. Certain things are just AUTOMATIC for certain people. Same for me when I go inside Eastern Market here in DC.....I don't have to say anything, they just make my sandwich for me the way I like without me moving a finger. It's called FAVOR.

It's so sad that the BLM been labeled as a terrorist group because of the acts of black people. It's to the point where sometimes you can't even argue about BLM being peaceful

ill err on the side of them never being justified vs always being justified

however that wasnt even the point that was being made

you can jump to that conclusion simply to be contrary but my point is deeper than that

once we start deciding who and who isnt worth marching for, its over

those crowd will get smaller and smaller because whos going to march when no one would be willing to march for you

it has to be all of us even the lowest common denominator

when "gangbangers" and "criminals" see something wrong and are willing to march and unite it becomes a problem

Why is it over if you decide not to march for someone who deserved it as opposed to an innocent victim.

Wouldn't it be more productive to not insult an Eric Garner or Trayvon Martin who there should be protests and outrage over, by playing boy who cried wolf and giving the same validation in the form of protests to folks who shouldn't be in the same sentence as then.

because ALLBLACKLIVESMATTER not just the ones that someone decided mattered

it doesnt take anything away from people who were "innocent" except for people who want to denigrate blm etc

if someone is guilty of a crime they go to court not murdered in the street like dogs

i see now why people are advocating for more black police after this incident

that way its not "racist" because its black cops pulling the trigger

not that they arent instruments of the same white supremacist system sent out to do the "dirty work"

 @ gangbangers seeing something wrong...when they are every bit part of the problem.

You have LEGIT people protesting on behalf on BLM. How's it gonna look when the person you're standing shoulder-to-shoulder with on those front lines is a gang member who is very much responsible for many of the ills that plague the same communities that you live in?

It was going to be labeled that anyway, Cointel Pro 201X. BLM didn't have a solid foundation, which allowed people to infiltrate it and do things in it's name or even be tied to it in the media. The founders don't go out and publicly deny the crap being tied to the movement, etc. Use the media to their advantage, etc. Gotta come smarter and harder when battling a system of this magnitude.

more respectability politics

hows it gonna look? look to who? and who cares how it looks?

ye crime is a problem, im not disagreeing with that

we can look at the system that has disenfranchised these "gangsters"

or we can sit around pattin ourselves on the back for being "legit" while we are ALL being targeted

Being unreasonable doesn't work, being reasonable doesn't work. What's next? The system itself is unreasonable yet it continues to churn on and grow in strength [emoji]128064[/emoji]

Rosa Parks was a criminal. Sometimes you gotta break laws to effect change [emoji]128064[/emoji]

Gangbanger lives matter too?...those the same dudes that make living in a poor neighborhood worse.
