American mentality: Vilifying a 20yr black woman for not putting her hand over her heart for the national anthem, calling her a sore loser and "unsupportive/un-American"
American mentality: Making convenient excuses for a 32yo white man who repeatedly lied and disgraced America on a global scale, approving his half-hearted apology and irresponsibility
Switch it up: 20yr white woman would receive automatic "victim" status and be heralded as a strong heroine. 32yo black man would be sitting in a decrepit Brazilian prison.
Add to that the fact that Mckayla Maroney frowned after receiving a sliver medal back in London, and everybody called it cute

That whole Gabby controversy was ridiculous. Getting all worked up over a whole lot of nothing.
Our Belgian national soccer team flat out doesn't even sing our national anthem aside from a few players but I've never heard anyone so much as complain about that. If anything we laugh at the contrast of other teams singing their anthem in full force while our players are just standing there silent.
