Very fair. I've thought of this before too. Decent assessment.
But I specifically listed those names because to me.....I KNEW they were phony
. I'm sure I could find posts of me slandering some of those guys games a few years back. But good point overall though.

It's amazing to me just how many of you guys think sending 18 year olds to the NFL is a good idea
It's not a good idea at all. However if anyone argues denying basketball players the rite to go pro is wrong because the NCAA is making millions off their back and they're forced to play for free. Then we can't turn a blind eye to the football players and say it's cool because the pro game is tougher. We have to explore a system that's fair for everyone.

There would be players who jump from HS to the pros that would be bust
There are players who spend 3 and 4 years in college and are bust.
That's the crapshoot of the draft. And it's not a valid reason for me to not allow players to make the jump. Staying in college, and evaluating how good a pro prospect someone is, while watching them play in the confines of NCAA rules, Amateur teammates, Amateur coaching, while balancing academics, then making a conclusion about their NBA chances based on that criteria, is silly.

Bottom line, would all of those guys being drafted to teams really have tainted the game? I still don't even see that, being the worst case scenario..

I think that's false. He was going to Chapel Hill. I couldn't have ever rooted for him if he was Dookie back then though, glad things worked out the way they did.

He could have easily underperformed and it could of went the other way for him. Someone could have easily assessed College Kobe a certain way and boom. I mean it's not like we didn't get Kobe, KG, T-Mac, Bron, Dwert etc. from it.
Whether a player is a boom or bust has as much to do with the organization they're drafted to as it does their actual age or talent. Does Kawhi become Kawhi if he's in Indiana instead of San Antonio? Probably not. The GMs and scouts are getting paid big bucks to be talent evaluators, they should be able to do their jobs.

Jermaine O'Neal, Kwame Brown was a bust for his draft position but even he ended up being a serviceable NBA player, Rashard Lewis was an all star, etc.
