Korver to come off bench with Cavs; LeBron still pushing for another point guard

Kyle Korver isn’t even wearing a Cavs jersey yet, but LeBron James is pushing General Manager David Griffin to do more.

The Cavs and Atlanta Hawks are still finalizing a deal that will send Korver to Cleveland and move out Mike Dunleavy. Another shooter to replace the injured J.R. Smith is nice, but James’ focus hasn’t changed. The roster isn’t championship-ready until they add another point guard.

“We still got a couple more things we need to do,” James said. “We got to get a point guard. It’s my last time saying it. We need a point guard.

“I think that’s the next step. You look at our league, most teams have three point guards. We only have two with Ky and our rook in Kay (Felder). I think just having that security blanket. Every NFL team has three quarterbacks. Having that security blanket in case of a David Carr. We’ll see what happens, but, we’re happy with our team right now.”

Carr, of course, is the Oakland Raiders quarterback who is out with a broken leg.

Once the Korver deal is complete, coach Tyronn Lue said he will come off the bench and DeAndre Liggins will remain a starter because Lue likes the way Liggins defends opposing point guards.
Lue called Korver one of the three best shooters coming off screens, grouping him with the Warriors’ tandem of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

“Especially a guy who can move without the ball the way he moves coming off screens and things like that, there’s no better guy,” Lue said. “You put him on the floor with Channing, RJ, LeBron and the floor will open (up) wide, so now you got to pick your poison when you try to help off Kyrie and LeBron.”

He knows they aren't built to beat GSW in a 7 game series. Sign-anybody-and-everybody. NBA needs to adopt a NCAA tourney bracket. It's getting tiring to see teams out West kill themselves to get to the Finals while Lebron and the Lebronettes boxes Cottonelle boxes.

I swear.

100%. The Eastern Conference is a damn joke. Has been since Jordan retired the first (2nd) time.

NBA gonna ditch the eastern and western conference at some point, I think so at least.

Hey how many other players can say they've made six straight finals? The REAL "King" James

The traveling is the biggest hang up on abolishing the conferences. If they can figure that out (which seems like an impossible task) then it would happen.

Thought it would be some run of the mil doc. But it's actually deeper than that. Really good doc.
Thanks i'll put this on later today when I have time.

I don't see that happening ever.

Too much history on top of the fact is just makes scheduling sense.
I think things could be altered so it all makes sense scheduling wise with no conferences. There are 30 teams and currently 82 games we know the idea of a shorter season has been thrown around and I think 60 could be a perfect number cause it would work nicely with their being 30 teams. Each team plays each other twice one home one away. Then at the end of the season its just the top 16 teams and then playoff's time. I  think it could work.

I swear. I spent most of my time on ESPN trying to get dudes to see this exact point. I think Lebron is one of the greatest to ever do but that choice is (and should) follow him for all time. No one with that sorta of hype should ever find themselves in the position of joining someone else's team along with another proven all-star and ring chase.

GSW dang near lost more than half of their team to get KD.

Woulda loved to see KD go to Boston only to see a Lebron vs KD conference finals tilt.
uhhh when Bron went to Miami the Heat only returned Wade and Chalmers...
are y'all really trying to say Bron did the same thing as KD?

This ***** said DAVID Carr  . And the writer co-signed him   . And y'all dudes let that **** slide for a full page and multiple quotes

Oh and they will never shorten the season just forget about it. It completely skews the record books. The NBA wants new legends not the same old ones. That's why the rules changed to increase offense and make this era look like the greatest ever

Why is travel such an issue? These dudes aren't going by horse and buggy, privately chartered planes where the longest flight is maybe 4.5 hours c'mon man.

 @ rule changes "making" this look like the greatest era.

Yea not the fact that offensive and defensive systems are as advanced and effecient as ever, not the fact that players have become more effecient in general, not that there are more talented players in the league at this time compared to any other.

Wait, just looked at who posted this.

You got me.

You're leaving out haslem, arroyo, james jones and Magloire. This guy brought Z with him from Cleveland, had Mike Miller and Eddie House. Also had Erick Dampier/Juwan Howard on this team. Not saying these are world-beaters but had some decent pieces.

The strength of GSW outside of their core was that their bench were solid and they were deep and by getting KD, they lost a lot of that.  I'm not saying what KD and Lebron did were the exact same thing but people jumping on KD for joining a team that built theirs from the ground up and lost a ton of players that made them special as a whole.

KD didn't handicap two other franchises in doing so. The West is still competitive after his signing. Cleveland wasn't the same until Bron returned, Toronto just became relevant recently. When Lebron bounced, it was just Miami. Boston was already pass their window.

Not necessarily. Boston still had 2 years left, could have beat them in 2012. Then the Pacers came in and gave them all they could handle. Also KD going to GS did effectively eliminate their biggest competition in OKC as well.

Would've loved to see Westbrook go to the rack in that final possession.

Kudos to James Harden for making that pass. That foul call was meh. NBA gotta make up their minds on how they let these end of games play out.
