GET OUT -- New horror film about black man meeting white gf's parents. Looks creepy.

This all happened cause grandpa lost to jesse owens lol

Yeah losing to Jesse gave either gave grandpa or perpetuated a deeply rooted complex he had about genetic superiority that he would later pass on to his family.

Also it was interesting seeing the correlation between the abducted people and the patrons that wanted their bodies. Grandpa clearly had aspirations of being the ultimate athletic specimen. Only right that he harbor in the body of a bigger and stronger guy.

The artist turned art dealer couldn't get past the reality that he had lost his vision and would never be able to visually witness art again. On top of that he gave Chris high praise about his unique talents as a photographer and went to recount how he wished he had his ability. I'm sure the art dealer seen this as an opportunity to become the acclaimed artist he always wanted to be but never had the skill of doing so. It's like vicarious living on a grandeur scale and the mentality that many possess that allows them to believe they know how to appropriate another person's gifts and talents better than the individual themselves do.

Really don't know what Grandma's vice was and it would've been intriguing to see who took form of the Brooklyn dude's body.

If I remember right, the old lady remarked that they "don't get out of the house much anymore" or something like that, so old man must've been looking for a "prime physical specimen". TSA was right!

Get Out finished the weekend at #1, with $30.5 million :pimp: Happy for Peele, this movie was damb brilliant.

Saw this yesterday. Movie was great in every way. Everybody needs a friend like the TSA guy.

Was drinking some tea this morning and saw this on twitter. Lol i almost spit it out I was laughing so hard. :

Saw this with my girl last night..........Man, this movie hit too close to home for me. Like, i've been in that position before.

The whole time I was like . And it wasn't even the jump scares. The whole premise was in itself legit scary.

But overall I can't give enough praise to this movie. It was brillant in every way. Jordan Peele knocked this movie out the park.

I was way to emotionally invested in this movie. I suppose we as black men can't seperate ourselves from the material. I felt like I went through this journey with Chris. I was ready to do looking for dude myself.

The theater I was in was near full and it was about half white and half black. I could tell some of the white people weren't too receptive to this movie. The only laughs I heard mostly came from the black people.

That ending tho. My girl and I were like

I felt so much stuff in common with Chris. Never dated a white chick but how he responded to the awkward moments was like looking in a mirror

That fake laugh and smile is real life

As someone who dated one for 3 years, this is very much real life, though it wasn't the actual family with habitual line stepping, but rather friends of the family, so I didn't have to care for any of those bums anyway

It's like the only thing you can do. That one solid "HA" is Black for "Bruh WTF"

When that old chick felt up his arm and was asking is it true

I've had a few mamas ask they daughters if I was true to size smh

I just dont fully understand why those people wanted to be transplanted to the host body. Its not like the host (Brooklyn guy for ex) took on the personality of the white guy. That Brooklyn dude was supposed to be the elderly ladies husband, but he seemed more loke her "slave" and not her new hubby. I understand the blind guy wanting Chris' body cause he has a good eye for photography but he would lose his eccentricities no?

Good post. I found it interesting the grandma/georgina kept looking at herself in the mirror, in the window reflection. She was obsessed with the physical appearance of her new body.

Anyone remember what distracted her when she was pouring the tea in the beginning? Seemed like the real person was slipping out of her more often than others.

Finally saw this last night and it lived up to the hype! Movie was fantastic. From the opening music cello/guitar that was hella throwback to 70s/80s horror flicks to the final twists and reveals, this movie was one of the few horror films that lived up to the hype of its trailer. Hat's off to Jordan Peele for redeeming himself after "Keanu"

Being latino i didn't go in with any ethnic presumptions and while I missed probably a few racial undertones, there were plenty that were in your face (i.e. Dad's speech about deer) That said, the aspect captured in this movie is "black fear" which in all honesty can translate more to ethnic fear because this situational uncomfort can occur in any interracial relationship. Even the actual premise of what's going on can have the racial tone removed and it would still be a very well done horror (in my opinion borderline sci-fi) film. However the racial aspect makes this film that much more creepy and eerie.

I'm also glad that this didn't resort to a high amount of jump scares or body count, but more so creepy factor and moments that make you say WTF is going on with these white people?!?

Scenes like the bingo one or the one after Chris walks in the house during the gathering and goes upstairs and everyone just stops talking make the movie that much more scary. It reminds me of that remade German flick Funny Games. While I admit watching it the first time was like damn this is rough, thinking back the movie is really effed up and scary because like get out, it's not paced like you slasher flick where you're on the run and need to do something.

I don't want to spoil too much but man i think the movie deserves another viewing. I almost applauded Stephen Root's art dealer character thinking he was the only sane one there, but yeah he ended being just as messed up as the rest of them

I think this goes in part as to why the grandmother and grandfather played their roles as house servants. Knowing that Chris was the fresh fish in their sordid plan, the "host" of the Brooklyn dudes body may A still be adapting to the body and B had to put on a show for Chris per se. Also the type of people you're dealing with who are participating in this bizarre plot are old so yeah they're gonna act weird.

Judging by his choice of words he actually did seem to behave like what would have been her husband. He dressed and behaved the part. Like when he had that "seizure" he left with a lil dry joke about them being left with out his wit.

And the art dealer did mention that people desire their new bodies based on their own preference and Christ flashed back to each situation confirming what he was saying

That bingo scene was super sneaky

Given the "science" behind the plot it's safe to say it's not 100% effective. It may have to do with how strong the original host is.

Movie was cool. Idk bout 100 but it was better than i expected it to be lol

That's an arbitrary figure based on the fact that the RT grading is either good or bad / pass or fail, there's no actual numerical factoring. You either give it a tomato or give it a splat. And your statment of being better than expected is the response from a lot of people hence lending itself to being given a tomato.

Currently going through user reviews and reading those that gave it a splat and find out why they didn't enjoy it per se.

I thought he grandmother was making sure her scar was covered up.

^Same. Never made sense to me until I saw the scar at the end. At the same time, the gardener running makes perfect sense once you find out it's the grandfather, who lost a race to Jesse Owens. Also makes sense that the plot occurs in such a way that it's his speed he relies on to catch our main character at the end. Though given the main character's physical state at that time, it wouldn't have taken much to catch him anyways.
