ALIEN-verse : Covenant (May 19, 2017) - Universe to Expand 2019

Was that the one where they drilled underground in the arctic?  Or am I thinking of The X-Files? [emoji]129300[/emoji][emoji]129300[/emoji]
It was something like that lol...not sure about X-Files tho.

The X-Files had a lot of ice-drilling too.

predators with adrian brody was pretty good. Dunno why they never followed up on it.

I'm left wondering how the prologue connects to the story we've seen in the trailers. And if that is the same david android in both.

No it's not. I'm not going to spoil the movie with what I've read, but in the prologue you can clearly hear and see what David is up to. If you look down at the ground you see and hear an audience cheering their ship's return. Look at the walls behind David and imagine the inside of a magazine as rounds enter the chamber.

Exactly. I was not expecting this, which leads me to believe they have a bigger role in Covenant than most assumed.

You can definitely say that. They are the stars of the franchise.

The prologue made me happy. When they arrive and land the ship looks awesome.

Can't wait.

I kinda spoiled some stuff for myself already. Watching these trailers and clips causes other related videos on YouTube to pop up on my homepage. Bunch of vids about the prologue and what happens.

A behind the scenes photos article on a major site included clear photos of spoilers. Like I guess if you're not paying attention or not savvy to it, you wouldn't notice but it was pretty obvious what they were photos of.

I was so annoyed I watched 20 minutes of the leaked cam footage and read a plot synopsis.

I feel like I've seen the entire movie do to the nauseating amount of previews.

Only saw prologue and trailer. I'm not trying to spoil this for myself.
Recently got the Alien Anthology set real cheap on Amazon rn to watch all the movies leading up to this

Movie answered some questions but ignored the most important one from Prometheus. That alone bothers me about Covenant to take major points off.

Movie wasn't scary but man this **** eas creepy.

Fassbender stole the show, surprised with how good Mcbride is he is not the comic relief at all, actually there are barely any laughs this movie is serious as **** lol

Like Prometheus this movie is visually Gorgeous. Simply breathtaking at some parts.

Movie os violent as **** per an Alien movie. Super bloody, same stupid space people doing stupid ****.

The second act drags for a bit it which is shame cause the first 45 minutes is really something then we just slow waaaay down. While that does help to explain some Prometheus loose ends, again the biggest question of the whole first movie Isnt addressed.

I look forward to the sequel ( i assume there should be one) but like Prometheus while i enjoyed Covenant i could have waiting for blu ray.

6/8

Agree with Jeremy about the "chunk" missing in this film.

It is great seeing the Xenomorph again but the same issue I have with this I had with Prometheus, is that I did not care for any character. Performances were fine but nothing stood out about any character to have me latch on to them.

Pretty much sums up my feelings about the movie.

I wish they went more into the Engineers though.

There's a really good write up about how this movie fits into the timeline on The Verge.

Saw the film a few hours ago and I loved it. While I would have enjoyed more from Elizabeth Shaw's character, i'm satisfied with what they chose to do with her and, of course, Fassbender ended up stealing the show due to his portrayal of both David and Walter. The former has gone completely off the deep end here, after only marginally doing so in the first film of what seems like it'll be a Prometheus/Alien Origin style trilogy/tetralogy. Visuals were amazing and there are the typical moments that'll have you jump a bit, depending on what type of person/fan you are I guess. If nothing else I think that the team did a good job making this into a very creepy film, so you should be able to appreciate that at least. As others have already said, none of the performances of the new guys really stood out to me, but none of them were necessarily bad either. Everyone did an ok job. I could complain about some of the dumb decisions the characters made (Walking onto an alien planet with no type of protective gear from the foreign environment?), but those are really just staples of the franchise, if not horror/alien films in general, at this point. OVerall, I was satisfied with the film and didn't regret paying money to see it, like I did with Power Rangers (Took my friend to see it for her birthday).
